1. Satterfield showed a lot of class by taking a knee on our 3 yard line as game expired. I take it as a sign of respect.
Satterfield also outcoached Fritz in every phase of the game. I think it is time that WF is removed from the most eligible coach list and we see SS.
I think it had less to do with coaching and them having a grown man D against our most of our young kid O line. You can only ask so much out of your D when they are on the field most of the game. ALL of our issues major and minor got exposed, that is what happens you play an equally talented team. Our O line is likely another year away in being anywhere near what we had in total last year. We just flat whiffed on a ton of blocks on top of them just overpowering our o line. They took their lumps early last season and got the little things right we might get there by the end of the season.
It is also obvious from the home and away record winning at each other's stadium is hard to do. Home field in this game is worth way more than the standard 3 points no matter what the records are. We gave them one of their hardest games when Van Gonad was coach.

well, when you look at the potential coaching openings, the one that scares me the most is Virginia, if they fire their coach, and go after SS, I don't know how or why he could pass it up, salary over a million, great University with extremely high academic standards, ACC, and, it not that far from Raleigh, where his family is located, and being relatively close to the grand parents is a really big deal for him and his wife. Personally, Im the biggest fan of Virginia this year, hope he turns it around and gets a contract extension.

RE: Takeaways from App-GS game
It's good to see GS fans are now acknowledging that losing 6 offensive lineman from your 2014 two-deep was tough to replace. i feel like someone mentioned that in the offseason predictions thread.
The biggest weakness with GS is your passing game, there were two separate occasions that if you had a QB that could throw with any accuracy (even if he underthrew it by 5 yards) would have been TDs and kept GS in the game.
So don't recruit any of those please.

Well I knew it was a big obstacle, but I had confidence in our coaches after the great job they did last year. It's just proving a bit tougher than we thought.
Also didn't expect the dropoff at WR, as well as losing BJ to injury. That's hurt our passing game just as much it seems. It seems the way our passing game works is this:
WR in the open
--QB makes horrible pass
--WR has 50/50 chance at best of catching
WR in tight/good coverage
--QB makes great, accurate pass
--WR drops ball after it hits his hands and numbers and hands again
We just can't get a break. Our passing numbers under Monken were terrible, but at least we were SOMEWHAT efficient. This is getting to program record low numbers.

Funny that you mention that. The last 3 of our 4 recruited QBs were from the state of Georgia. It makes you wonder if we recruit them harder to make sure they don't go to GaSo.

.....or there's just a lot of good QB talent down here and that's what you want on your team?
I mean, if we live in your head that much that it's that important, well then ok. But I don't think that is what's going on here.

I honestly believe for Scott its not the money. He is living his dream right now. Making in the range of $500K per year, coaching his alma mater, raising his kids in Boone where HIS WIFE (who is extremely close to her family 1 hour away in Burnsville) wants to be. Beth has a ministry she is deeply intrenched in and we all know Happy Wife = Happy Life. I do look for Ledford, who was a finalist for two jobs last year, to be lured away at some point in time. But have no fear. There is an App Grad with some Big Time experience just waiting in the wings to come back home.

Being in the mountains is a selling point to coaches who value a high quality of life, so App is going to attract high character coaches.

I think the next coach we need to worry about is Nate Woody, when we hired him we all knew if he lived up to his reputation as a great DC, he probably wouldn't be here more than 3 or 4 years. I don't know how him and his family feel about living in Boone, but Im hoping they are really enjoying it to the point where maybe we can keep him in Boone a year or two longer.

I hope that's the case too. I think it is. Scott loves AppState and has reasons to stay. Could have a coaching dynasty if we keep consistency at head coach.

Slow down there, chief. You returned 20 of 22 starters this year. This was your year. Not ready to crown you Alabama just yet. Let's revisit in 5 years.

We return 16 of 22 again next year though
I think he was referring more to having a coach that stays there forever though, like a Beamer.

GS has redshirt seniors that are currently 42-16 with 1 Sun Belt ring, 2 SoCon rings, a win over Florida, 2 semifinal appearances, and no losing seasons.
App's redshirt seniors are 33-22 with 1 SoCon ring, 2 first round playoff exits, and 1 losing season. Congrats on the head-to-head though.

We have been App's super bowl since 1987 - hence the goal posts coming down for regular season wins.
