A majority of Georgia Southern fans I've encountered (here and elsewhere) are obnoxious homers who believe they're god's gift to the game of football and can't take an ounce of critique of their team or their performance, no matter how even keeled or logical it may be. They're mean spirited, taking great joy in random shots at other teams for no reason (specifically GSU).

Conversely, most App State fans I've encountered are passionate about their team without being overbearing or cocky. That's what my opinion is based on.

Are there exceptions? Sure. I've met GaSo fans that were cool. But the behavior of their more obnoxious brethren keep me from rooting for a team I'd otherwise be a big fan of.

I'd be interested to know the experience you speak of. I've walked by Richmond and Georgia Southern fans while in Boone on game day only to have them begin yelling Crappalachian State in my face, which isn't really original and Richmond left with a humiliating loss to the tune of Armanti going 14-16 for 182 yards and 3 TD's and rushing for 313 yards and 4 TD's, and Georgia Southern lost...52-14 or something, during Hatchers last year.

wow, talk about calling the kettle black, full disclosure, I graduated from App, and love my school, maybe too much, but I have no idea what this GS fan is talking about. I have been going to games in Boone off and on for thirty years and I have never seen the kind of behavior this guy is talking about, yes, have our few that drink too much, and can get too loud and stupid, but every fan base has those, but basically, when you come to Boone, if you show respect, don't act like a jerk, don't try and cause trouble, then the majority of our fans will treat you with respect like your one of our own. But, if you start some crap, show disrespect to our fans and the University, then yes, there is a chance your going to hear about it. Come to think of it, through the years, the only fan base that consistently complains about the way their treated in Boone is.....GSU, hmm...starting to see a direct link between GSU fans and what I just talked about.

Ohhhh i was there for Hatchers last year. This is the reason why I love this game. Walking in was pleasant and nice, beside the drunk college kid waving his flag in our face but w/e i've done something similar so I let it slide. It wasn't until leaving at the beginning of the 4th, think we were down like 30 points. Some gentlemen mooned us as we were exiting the hill and some drunk obnoxious guy was yelling some incredible obscenities towards us as we exited the stadium. Not to mention the (I swear) 6 yr old who flicked me off from his father's back...that one I actually chuckled on.

but you know what. I let it slide and when I get the chance i'll be back in Boone. Whenever I see opposing fans in Paulson I treat them with respect. Dude we all have our cracked out fans and the majority of the time you know what you're getting into when you walk into another school's stadium.

Its called a rivalry and its called football. I'm happy the Sun Belt will be cheering against us this Thursday, more reason for us to keep kicking tail.

I had App players and fans try and start a fight in a restaurant parking lot. It was the game we won but AP was held under 100 for the first time. This is the biggest pot to kettle thing in ALL of college football.

I've always thought Southern fans were the worst I ever encountered, and I am one. But then, I've figured that was also probably because of I've been exposed to more of them, and more of them more often, so we just look worse to me.

There it is, the smack talk has finally begun. We have our first child flipping a bird reference. Okay, app fans, it's your turn to bring out the grandma cursing you in Statesboro.

Those last 2 sentences are sarcasm clearly. Its a message board for christ sake. Also the reason GS fans have bad experiences is because we're GS fans. Its a rivalry game, plain and simple. Everything is over hyped over dramatized over played over looked over everything. We all need to pop some happy pills and get back to jabbing each other.

In general, the number of annoying fans you have is proportional to the total number of fans you have on the internet.

While at Boone, I witnessed two rat tailed individuals walk to the first row and start to pick a fight with Cheerleaders. It was bizarre.

Do I use that to paint the picture? No, I've never had an issue in Boone on Gameday.

In fact, I tell people they should go at least once.

I have yet to see an incident with visiting App fans.
