I think I've seen every type of error and mistake you can make in football today from our team. I haven't seen sound football. And our offense coordinator needs to stick to a balanced offense gameplan that helps the entire team rather than pretending this is John Madden football.

Most intelligent post about this game on this board today with the exception of the commentary on the OC. The OC is the only reason this squad was able to put up any points today.

Indeed. He's the only person associated with the program worth his check.

At least it's over. Maybe some that away-game mojo we seem to have will help keep it respectable in Toledo.

RE: Akron Game
Well, we all agree that the Eagles played pretty poorly today. This program isn't at a point where it will consistently show improvement. There are going to be games where the team looks like it is making tremendous strides and there are going to be games where it looks as though no improvement has been made. That is the nature of this type of change and it is called growing pains.

I am still confident that Coach Creighton will turn this program around.

Hm, why then did we abandon the running game early in the second quarter and rely more and more on the pass? We pulled the same thing in the second half of the Ball State game. Abandoning the run in favor of the pass only adds more stress to the defense. And lets be honest here our offense was fairly non efficient in the second half against Akron. Yes I know we were behind which normally favor a passing game to catch up but in our case it just puts our defense on the field more often and we just fall further behind.

I'd be concerned that CC and staff may lose this team for the rest of the year, pipe wrenches and slogans go only so far and at some point these players need to man up and start playing up to their potential, that's the coaches job to see that they do. E-Tough wasn't on display yesterday.
Defensively tackling dummies might do a better job.

Need to keep graduating the dead wood. A big part of Creightons philosophy in recruiting is getting guys with leadership qualities and the right attitude. Too early to tell but hopefully that strategy starts to pay off next year when a good portion of the roster has turned over. If the talent and development isn't there it's moot, but it's at least one third of the puzzle, much like offense/defense/special teams.

RE: Akron Game
I wouldn't be surprised if there is some internal tension among the players right now, much like at Texas with Charlie Strong and his roster turnover project. If there is tension between the old and the new I would submit that is a good thing. Last week all the pundits said Strong couldn't coach, there was internal strife between players, and they'd be lucky to win another game. This week they beat OU in a stunning upset.

Can't get discouraged and throw in the towel at this point, as frustrating as it is.

This season would be a great success if we can continue to improve on offense and get rid of the contrived and condescending sledgehammer/concrete bit.

Defense will have to wait until next year. Or the year after.

Agree on both counts. The concrete wall bit is embarrassing! Even when part of it falls, all the rest of the players have to tiptoe around the pile. Either come up with a different sledgehammer/brick gimmick, or get rid of it!

Better to create a great hype video based on the same theme, and let the team fly out of the tunnel together in unison to get the crowd on it's feet.

The brick wall is cringe inducing/laughable at this point.

Come on Creighton/EMU, we can do better.
