Latest Bowl Projections from Jerry Palm

He predicts that there won't be enough 6-6 teams so that they'll have to go to 5-7 teams. As a result, every 6-6 team will go bowling.

That being said, I'm not sure he's paying attention to the Sun Belt very well.

-----

How what is the most likely path for your team get to Six wins? Seven? Here's my analysis

LOCK FOR A BOWL - Barring some unforeseen collapse, they will be bowling. Only question is, where and against whom.

1) Ga Southern - Beat NMSU and Ga State at home to get to 6. Lock them into a bowl. Be jealous of their stoopid easy schedule, but they actually won an OOC FBS game. Makes life a lot easier.

LOOKING PRETTY GOOD - So long as they avoid multiple upsets, six wins is likely and seven looks very doable. These teams can afford to withstand an upset.

2) App State - Win @ Ga State and @ Idaho. Win 1 of @ULM, Ga Southern, Troy, Ark State, Louisiana, @ USA to get to 6 wins. Win 2 to get to 7.

3) USA - Beat Idaho and @ Ga State. Win one of ULL, stAte, @ Georgia Southern, @ Texas State, App to get to 6 wins. Win 2 to get to 7.

SOME WILL MAKE IT, SOME MIGHT NOT - Better not lose any games you aren't supposed to lose. You have no margin left. Better win the games against each other too.

4) Arkansas State - Win at NMSU and beat Ga State. Win 2 of @USA, ULL, @App, @ULM, and Texas State to get to 6. Win 3 to get to 7. stAte not making the playoffs would be awful as they played a bad FCS, NMSU, Idaho, and Ga State. Only need 2 wins outside of that. I think they get them.

5) Texas State - win @ Idaho and beat Ga State and NMSU. Win 2 of USA, @Ga Southern, @ULL, ULM, and @ stAte to get to 6.

6) ULL - win @ Ga State and beat NMSU. Win 3 of Texas State, @USA, ULM, @ Arkansas State, @App and Troy to get to 6. Win 4 to get to 7. Texas State at ULL is looking huge for both teams.

STILL A CHANCE, BUT YOU BETTER WIN. NOW.

7) ULM - Beat NMSU and @ Idaho. Win 4 of @Tulsa, App State, @ULL, @Troy, Ark State, @Texas State, and @ Hawai'i to become bowl eligible. ULM plays 13 this year. I'm not sure if 6-7 gets them bowl eligible. In that case they'd only need 3 to get there. Either way, unless ULM figures out how to win on the road, its going to be a tall order to get eligible. Winning @ Tulsa and @ Hawai'i would help - immensely.

8) Troy - Beat Idaho and @ Ga State and @ NMSU. Win 2 of @ Miss State, ULM, @App, Georgia Southern, and @ ULL to get to 6. You guys look like y'all need to steal a win.

RE: Latest Bowl Projections from Jerry Palm
I would think App State is as much of a lock on a bowl as GaSo. I do think GaSo has a slightly easier schedule than App, but I am not sure if it is that much easier to make them a lock and not App. My only concern would be having a W-L record that qualifies us but not getting an invite. But with all the OOC loses in the SB I am not worried about that either. Assuming we stay healthy.

IMHO you are one win from being a lock. You can lock it up when you play at ULM in 2 weeks.

Either way, its very likely you bowl this year. Congrats. Winning multiple OOC FBS games makes it really easy.

I'd say this game is of enough importance that whoever loses might just accept that there will be no post-season play.

A New Orleans Bowl without ULL??? How will the conference survive???

If that does happen, it will be interesting to see the attendance number from another team. Hopefully they will represent as well as ULL has.

They seem hell-bent on having Toledo play Georgia Southern in a bowl. I like the matchup but I would prefer it to be in Orlando or Mobile instead of Montgomery.

The Northern Illinois vs. Appalachian State game also looks intriguing. Matchup the top 2 Sun Belt teams vs. the top 2 MAC teams.

Toledo now in the AP top 25. If both teams keep up the winning ways, and GaSo wins the bowl, the SBC could have our first top 25 team.

But the season has a long way to go. And I'm still believing in my team to run through the our SBC schedule.

History has said otherwise. I believe the best non-Cajun crowd was sitll about 10,000 less than the worst Cajun-crowd which was last year. Pretty much the reason if there's any possibility that the Cajuns can make the game, they're likely to be issued an invite.

How you think the Cajuns will represent if your team is 6-6 and playing the 3rd or even 4th MAC team???

Only reason the author put Ga South as a lock and not App is because they have played in one more game than App and thus have one more win. While it still looks like Ga South has an easier schedule to some degree App does draw ULL, Ark St, and Ga South in Boone. I would guess we get at least two out of those three. Grab three and we are champs if not co-champs depending on how the season shakes out. Still gotta take care of business before October 22nd, but ESPNU is likely in for a hate week treat.

Exactly why the Cajuns need to pull it out and get bowl eligible. We need Louisiana in The Dome this year. 04-cheers

They'll represent. If you've ever hung out in Lafayette on game day/night you'd know Cajuns fans are all about winning, no matter who, where or when. You'd also know they're ALMOST just as serious about the party and NOLA offers that too.

I thought this year's team would be a C-USA participant?

A 6-6 Cajun team would obviously not make our fans happy but still, New Orleans, party, and a bowl game? They'll be there.

If I recall, that game would be on a Saturday evening with the Saints not playing until Monday evening in the Dome. That would make reservations much easier for everyone involved and the late kickoff would help as well.

Should the Cajuns somehow make it, and a team like USM is the opponent, you'd see a decent crowd IMHO.

I would imagine a cajun/so miss matchup would be more than a decent crowd.

Decent hell, that game could be a sell out with a renewed USM fan base.

Saints just win in OT!!!

It USA somehow wins the conference and make it to the New Orleans bowl the USA crowd will travel to the Superdome and might stay for the Saints game. Playing another nearby team like Southern Miss would be a great bonus and bring more fans.
