First in the nation in yards per carry, one TD out of first plays for TDs, 6th in total yards. I really thought Breida's numbers would drop off a good bit this year but it doesn't seem like they will at this rate.

One bright spot in an otherwise (so far) bad SBC football season.

Kudos. Kid is talented.

He is the best in the country outside of Fournette.

I agree....Breida is great but that's wishful thinking.

Breida is probably the most explosive back in the country, but at 190 it is hard to compare him to Chubb, Fournette etc. If anyone has a burst of speed faster than Breida I haven't seen it. During the 66 yard run; the announcer seemed shocked at what he saw.

Agreed. Chubb and Henry aren't too bad. Brides is a very good back though. I'll let you know more after this weekend, since we have played both Chubb and Henry.

Not saying Breida is better than Chubb. But we can all agree that the UGA offensive line is way better than the GaSouthern offensive line. Just sayin'.

I mean, hell. Trent Richardson looked like a GOD behind Bama's line. What has he done in the NFL? Nothing.

Y'all held him down pretty good last November so we'll see.

The thing about Breida is that he does his damage in chunks. He'll have 5-7 carries of 3 yards then go 80. ULM didn't let him get the big play last year so his numbers were low.

You may see that as a good thing, the NFL will not. He's a great back, especially for your system, but he isn't a back that can get 75% of the carries for a season.

I can see him as a Darren Sproles type RB in the NFL. He'll never be a workhorse like Jamal Charles or Adrian Peterson. He's not big enough.

You don't become a Doak Walker semi-finalist like Bredia did last year without being a great running back. Is he as good as Chubb? Hard to say because really it's apples to oranges but I would say Bredia is one of the best speed backs in the country.

RE: Matt Breida back at #1
Breida is the perfect running back for our offense, I don't know that he would be as effective in a more traditional system. The lack of a second level in most defensive formations against an option team is what makes Breida great, because once he gets beyond the first line he's fast enough to beat just about any angle for a big gain.

It's getting him through that line thats the tough part. He's a harder runner than people give him credit for, but I don't know that he could do it 20+ times a game all season long.

I agree with that completely. Heck, I'm not sure how good he would have been in the old GS system pre-Fritz. He would likely been a good A back but I don't think he would have been able to play FB in the old flex TO.

He was recruited as an A-back.

He would have been a more polished, elusive, but slower Mark Myers. 03-thumbsup
