I know a bunch of teams wear gray and the soccer teams are featuring black this year......but why blue?

Very interesting. They still look dark blue to me but I guess they could be black (which at least would make more sense from a W&M perspective, since it seems that anybody can wear black). That article talked about how lighting affects color determination and the Johnson article talked about the brand new lighting in Kaplan, so ………..

No announcement has been made about Sports Performance Complex having a contract to be built thou we have been told it would be finished by the end of 2024.

Reliable sources state the Sports Performance Complex was part of the contract signed for the current Kap I renovations but then cancelled. The implication was lack of funding. The same sources see no activity to have it repriced. Each delay just adds to the cost and this has been occurring since the summer of 2020.

It was announced in 2020 we needed 67M for the W&M Athletics Complex with 37M raised. In May 2022 we had a ground breaking ceremony with shovels dug into the equivalent of a sandbox. We now have a pile of dirt growing grass to represent the location of the Sports Performance Complex.

W&M had to do the locker room renovations in the Kap due to Title IX violations and it is great they wrapped into it the new Video Board and lighting for the Kap Arena but that is not a serious effort to address our MBB facility issues or the needs of our student athletes that do not have access to the Laycock Center.

The Kap was opened December 1970 and shows that age. W&M website is still displaying images of the new Kap from 2020 which are now an illusion versus reality. Even worse, we recruit student athletes showing them a facility vision that has been a lie for several years now. W&M is better than this.

Tell the truth about what we can do now and what is W&M's vison going forward or find new leadership that can be honest and lead.

The administration needs to be more open about what is going on. If they come out and say we are short a certain amount of dollars and need your support, I am sure many people are willing to contribute. I am not sure what they are thinking.

Maybe they realize what a bad look it is to say that they are short of dollars so soon after they just successfully completed the $1B For The Bold campaign. People get fatigued by constant whining for money; I know I do.

Seriously…just get the rest from Boehly. It wouldn’t even make a dent in his net worth. Change the name to Boehly Pavilion at Kaplan Arena.

Noticed at the MBB game that the construction trailer for the general contractor to build the Sports Performance Complex is gone.

Hopefully the new general contractor will soon appear on the job site as the clock is ticking

The lack of transparency on this project is maddening

This is something that absolutely needs to move forward if W&M athletics is to continue on an upward trajectory. That is why Maine is doing $200+ million in new athletic facility construction.

Right before break they did a couple of staged power outages supposedly related to Kaplan construction. I have to imagine something must be getting done.
