Counting Coastal that's 5 top 100 programs for the SBC. I'll take that every day of the week and twice on Sunday!

South Alabama #81? Puh-lease. What is "recent history" anyway?

Hmmmmmmm

Coastal is number 33 on that list which is behind only one Sun Belt school (Louisiana) which is ranked only 2 spots ahead at 31. 04-jawdrop

...kind of flies in the face of all of those saying that Coastal wouldn't be at the top of the Sun Belt in baseball. The experts seem to disagree.

I take the term "expert" a little more seriously

Then how about, "unbiased opinion"?

per the breakdown of each team, they said this about recent history.
"For the purpose of this exercise, we don’t care what happened in the 1970s or 80s, or even the 90s — that’s ancient history to a potential recruit in 2015.Tradition is nice, but it’s more important to establish a tradition of consistent winning in the last decade, and especially in the last five years"

That's why we think that the Cajuns winning a regional for the second year in a row was more important than being ranked #1 and winning a regional two years ago. It suggests to players being recruited that winning a regional for the first time wasn't a fluke (as they maybe were being told by other schools), even after losing six of your 8 starting field position players and five of your top six pitchers. I think it played a direct part in having the #13 recruiting class by Collegiate Baseball.

So 2000 and later, which includes our worst stretch in history.... How lovely.

2000 through 2015
16 years
7 NCAA Tournaments -- 43.75% of the time

1970 through 1999
30 years
18 NCAA Tournaments -- 60% of the time

Troy ranked 91... Given our history and recent history I expected us to be higher as well.

these kind of things have to be taken with a grain of salt. I think people who have played the sport and followed college baseball for any length of time will see some teams on that list or not on that list and wonder "what are they thinking"

You guys don't have Coastal yet. Sun Belt only has a 4-3 advantage on the Big South right now. We'll enjoy their presence for one last year to help our SOS.

Well I guess we have only been good these last couple years, and we still weren't great. But I feel like GT should be a lot higher? 34?
