We had like 4-5 delay of games/wasted TOs because the coaches couldn't get a play called in time. A couple when it was the 1st play on a change of possession. I would notice that the coaches would be holding the players in a huddle for a while, and the refs would start the play clock before the O would even leave the sideline. By the time they would get to the line, the play clock would already be to about 10-15 seconds left. SO DUMB.

Edit: Misunderstood him. UT is on defense, which is what teams usually do.

Watching the game again on my DVR. He DID say Toledo was playing offense to begin the first overtime. Unless I need a hearing aid to go along with the new glasses the officials convinced me I needed last night. 03-old

No question. We all were trying to figure it it and decided he wanted the D to have another series to rest. Then we came out on D. I swear the announcer kept saying "Thourd down" too, because several times we complained he was getting the down wrong before we realized he couldn't pronounce "third" without making it sound like "fourth".

Has anyone ever seen an offsides penalty on the defense, like on our punt when the guy covering our shooter guy way outside gets called. That was a first for me. The non call offsides on the int. was a head scratcher as well. The whole stadium saw it.

I still don't understand that holding call. We called for a fair catch. Thus there was not going to be a return...so who cares if there was a hold? Now I understand that the receiver may muff the catch and then it's a free ball and a holding call would matter. But on a clean fair catch? May have been the "correct" call but I think a rule change should be explored. Besides--there's holding on every single play somewhere!

How about the "free play" interception with the picked up flag?

A lot of the holding calls on punt returns happen before the ball is even caught, with players holding the gunners as they run downfield. In that case, the flag is thrown before even knowing if there will be a fair catch or not.

I'm watching this again and of the first six passes, one was "catchable." Others were caught or not but way high and off the hands, behind on the sweep. This followed up on the first TD possession with a good catch by WIlcher, a bit behind and two very good catches by Russell, one with a little Lance Alworth leg kick.

Maybe this kind of penalty is more common than I think it is. But I don't remember seeing it.

So they threw the flag and picked it up? I thought they just straight missed it. I think picking it up is even worse.

My buddy, a former UT O-lineman was going nuts. Happened right in front of us. Can't understand how that happens.

As far as I know, there was no flag whatsoever.

Watching cincy at Memphis and the same thing just happened resulting in a run play for negative yards for Memphis. Cincy nose tackle clearly in the neutral zone before the snap and no call made. I don't get the no calls on these plays

Cause if Memphis wins out they would get the Access bowl over us. Yes I am looking that far ahead haha. Their QB is a stud.
