I will say this though, I would much rather watch a football game on my 60inch flat screen then my 12 inch iPad.

You can - they make these wonderful devices called AppleTVs and Rokus and others that allow you to watch streaming content on your TV. Some TVs even are "smart" and have the capabilities built in.

But my internet sucks at the house, so it's a no go at the moment. That will change in April when my contract is up with exide and I got to a regular internet service again. I can't wait!!!

You don't get that with ESPN3, and the whole reason for the TV contract is exposure, ESPN3 is not exposure. A possible high school prospect that has never heard of TxSt and ULM will never turn that game on on ESPN3, however, while waiting for his UT or LSU game to come on sees that game on the channel guide, guess what, he'll turn it on to see what that is about.

We have to get out from under the ESPN umbrella if we want to see the league grow in media output.

I do.

I don't have Satellite TV service, I have cable, and I have infinetely fewer games I can watch on television.

I have still, to this day, seen only one game played on the American Sports Network, and that was only because I happened to be in Birmingham that day.

ASN is great for Satellite users, who don't have great Internet capabilities, but for those of us with cable packages, ESPN3 works far better.

ESPN could sub-license Sun Belt games to ASN. Some MAC games are on a few ASN stations and ESPN3 this year. Best of both worlds, to me.

That would require ESPN being willing to cut some of their ESPN3 product out. There seems to be no interest in doing that to SBC content.

We need a secondary TV deal, or get on FOX, CBS, NBC in the next go around.

Can we just start a SBC Network????

Benson believes there is only one sports channels and that is ESPN. He did the same thing for the WAC (I have wondered if he has gotten compensation from ESPN for keeping a conference solely with them). Its a reason why NMSU started AggieVision, alumni wanted games on TV.

Without a secondary TV deal the SBC will never be on the same level as MWC and other G5 conferences.

MWC TV Deal: ESPN, CBS Sports, Root Sports, MW Digital Network/Campus Insiders.

Benson had nothing to do with the current SBC Television contract, it was Wright Waters that agreed to bundle the SBC 1st, 2nd and 3rd tier rights to ESPN. ESPN does sell the SBC 2nd and 3rd tier rights to local networks at times. Benson will negotiate the new SBC television contract coming up in 2017.

According to Direct TV, you would be taller and better looking with them instead of cable.

I do. Every single weekend. I love the ESPN3 platform because so many games are easily accessible. Sign in on a few different devices, stream a couple to the TVs in the living room, fire up the laptop...unless it is a GS game, I normally have several going at once.

I do prefer having the games "on TV" primarily due to marketing and the quality of the announcers, but outside of whether I use a mouse or a remote control, it is practically the exact same thing.

I do agree we need a new contract (one that gives us comparable money to comparable conferences), but the delivery of the product is great! I'd rather click on the replay in ESPN3 than have to DVR a game and have to watch is at home. There may be some extra streaming service for recorded shows or On-Demand functionalities with some providers, but I can watch replays on demand on ESPN3 for months and months after the actual game.

I do too. ESPN3 is TV to me because I have a couple of Rokus. To me its just another channel on my TV and I do go from game to game according to my interest level.

Yup, I watched ASN's broadcast of ODU/EMU on ESPN3.

Does anyone think espn is going to keep giving away this for free? At some point your internet cost will have a added charge for espn content. Just as your cable bill cost you more because you get espn.

I don't think I know one person who would rather watch a game on the internet vs TV if given the choice. Of course all of us don't have that choice so espn3 is still a lot better than not getting the game at all. But if you are a flipper...you really can't compare the two because TV is 100x better, easier to use, faster.

As for the person who said...fox doesn't care they are doing play by play from the studio for CUSA games. Not only is Fox doing this but so is espn and it's not only CUSA games but just about every conference. It's called costing cost and before long that will be the norm..

probably even in games two top 10 teams plays

Wut

1) I am paying for espn via SlingTV. Its not free.

2) TV vs. Internet is irrelevant. My internet is connected to my TV. Its just another source for TV just like OTA, Cable and Satellite. As for easier to use. Again, if you have a Roku, Chromecast or Fire, it IS TV. LOL

My internet doesn't support ESPN3, I have to log in with my Direct TV account, so I too am already paying for that content.

Not true the GS at NMSU game was on Sports South and I believe Fox Sports Southwest just last year.

Posted from my mobile device using the CSNbbs App

It was on ESPN3 ... ESPN has the exclusive rights to all Sun Belt games. They will all be on ESPN3 at worst.

Quick check of both school's game notes will confirm that.

If you'll remember correctly, ESPN3 used AggieVision to broadcast that game, because NMSU was already going to, & Fox SportSouth was able to pick it up for us in GA/SC or the region. A last minute agreement.

I watch ESPN3 on my 65" TV all the time. Go HDMI out from your PC to HDMI in on your TV then at halftime or whatever, use your "source" button to flip to your other input to flip back and forth between a broadcast game and an ESPN3 game. Very simple and easy to do.

I agree we need a new deal. At the very least, we need a backup deal with FS1. That being said, many of the espn3 games are available on real TV now. Some of the ones they pick for college extra are odd to say the least. Last week they showed some FCS games over the stAte vs Missouri game.
