I'm with you, another score and Dabo has to get his starters back in.

Lamb got some groove back and this game is pretty much over. Play Caruso now or let Lamb risk injury but get more experience?

Defense played great, Clemson only had 3 points with 11 minutes to go in the second, and then the wheels fell off. Biggest problem mid majors have when facing elite programs, is shut down corners, who can cover one on one. Lamb was bad, but our receivers couldn't even get off the line, once they had no fear of getting beat deep, they had 7, some times 8 guys within 2 or 3 yds of the line right before we hiked the ball, the backs and Lamb had no chance.

RE: Game Thread: Appalachian State at Clemson 12:30pm ET ESPN3
Last week was not a great indicator of the SB play to come. This week, in my view, was not as skewed the other way, but it was, I recognize, the opposite of the Howard game. Still skewed to much to not be a great indicator for the rest of the year.

So what is the good, the bad, and the ugly we can take away for the Clemson game that would help against ODU and Wyoming?

My thoughts as an armchair coach - so this means nothing.

Good- Defense looked like they could go toe to toe for a large part of the game against a powerful P5 team.

Bad - Lamb needs to work on his throwing/throwing away to avoid INTs. But I realize the Clemson D was not giving him much to work with which brings us to -

The Ugly - our run game against the Clemson D. I doubt we will see that again the rest of the year, but that also gets us back to the passing game.

We played even ball 3 of 4 quarters though I realize that was against their non-starters. That might be closer to what we see talent and size-wise the rest of the year as well.

Positive: Apps run defense. They were able to out gain Clemson on the ground and hold a higher YPC. Terrance Upshaw looks like the real deal as well.

Good to be able to laugh.

I was going to insert an Arrested Development video clip with Lucille Bluth saying that very thing but I can't find it on youtube. All I got is this.

The defense played well considering they were on the field the entire first half. Blair, Law, Fernandez, and Stringer played really well. Have to give credit for the D swarming to the ball as well. Offense was simply overpowered and frankly awful against Clemsons first unit. I hope the Tigers are as good as some experts think they are....we'll see.

Those "non starters" for Clemson are better than a majority of players we'll see the rest of the year. All the talk has been about Clemson's offense, but their defense was the difference in the game. We've got a pretty good offense, but couldn't do beans against that first unit. Our defense just was flat wore out halfway in the second qtr. The pick six was a great call by Clemson. Blitzed the MLB and the DL rushed then dropped back and stepped right in front of the hot read slant. Baited Lamb big time on that one.
