Not causing doubt, but people on this board and other boards have said that a triple option offense will only work for a short period of time in FBS before teams start figuring it out. I can't say that I believe that, but time will tell, if that is the case GS could have a tough road ahead.

Good thing nobody told GT that last year! They have been running the same offense since 2008

That has always been a strength on our offense when running the flex bone. Now with a new staff and new offense (year 2), I'm hoping that is not disappearing.

Man, y'all are funny . . . . You go into Morgantown, get spanked, can't even put a point in the board, and you can't even give the team that whooped yo azzzzzz any credit . . . . .

I'll give you points for arrogance, but that's about all . . . . 03-lmfao

Y'all? It's just me. You call it arrogance? I'm saying we are that bad. It wasn't an attempt to slight WVU but rather pointing the finger at our shortcomings. If I had said they were a top tier team somebody would have said I was being arrogant claiming only a top team could do that to Southern. Some people look for something that's not there. I doubt too many eagle fans are arrogant today.

I can understand why you would think that after reading my post again. What I'm trying to say is, we didn't get beat that bad by Ohio State, Alabama, etc... They are a good team that I expected to be beaten by but not this bad.

I think this year GS is going to hit the rocks a little bit. Let's see if they can overcome adversity.

We had a first time starter at QB and 4 new starters on OL who had a hard time with a massive defensive onslaught. The defense was within 5-7 yards of the LoS all game, rarely with deep safeties. Their secondary was on islands against our receivers and guarded them well. Their defense is LEGIT, and prepared very well for us. Most teams overlook us and half ass prepare, knowing their athleticism will put them over the top. WVU spent a lot of time getting ready for us, and it showed. Their starters were in on defense the entire game. Their goal was to shut us down completely.

They spent a great deal of the summer and 2 weeks of full game prep, which is more than pretty much any other team will get. Their DC had a history with us, having been spanked when he played us in the 90s, so he probably took exception to this game. They were ready, no doubt.

Somewhat. Our OL was struggling, but their defensive front was insane. 35 ate our lunch all game. Also our WR's struggled on blocking a secondary that's REALLY good. I'd save judgement on worrying about their blocking ability when we play other teams. Same for the OL. Maybe if we can get some game reps where they can build some confidence we'll see a different performance. We can't really indict Upshaw from his performance either when defenders were flooding through every area of the field whenever we tried to do something. Yes he had bad mechanics during the game, but I'm sure a lot of it was nerves and just trying to make stuff happen since things were going so terribly.

WVU's defense is going to be insane this year. It's not Alabama 2011 level, but it's going to make some noise.

RE: When was the last time southern was blanked?
Could this be a setback year? Sure...and that has been predicted by many given the O-line situation.

GS has had "dry spells" when we've had mediocre teams winning only 7 games and we've had 3 losing seasons which were miserable!

This could be a 6-7 win season or it could be 8-4 like many of us thought. What you won't see at Georgia Southern is a coach staying long who isn't bringing championships. The coaches who have been fired were 9-4, 8-4, and 5-6 their previous seasons with the first two never posting a losing season and the last one going .500 over three seasons.

There's a fine line between confidence/pride and arrogance. Arrogance involves ignorance of one's weaknesses and the strengths of others and there is no shortage of arrogance in Eagle Nation or any other fan base of successful teams. Pride/confidence is knowing that one is capable of overcoming challenges and experiencing success in the big picture.

Clinically, arrogance comes from thinking irrationally about one's ability thereby changing healthy confidence into unhealthy arrogance.

The best thing about the azz whippin Saturday night is that it creates a lot of conflict for arrogant thinking and could create some humility, but I doubt it. I expect to be competitive for the SBC championship, play in a bowl in 2015 and be very strong in 2016.

I feel like people have gone really easy on GS, fail to score any points or do anything positive next week and you can expect to start hearing it around here.

I don't know Zilla . . . . They got beat pretty bad . . . .

Should we kick 'em out of The Conference . . . .

Or should The Conference do an intervention?

And I would expect it.

However, unless we face a defense tooled like theres, with the amount of preparation they did, I don't think we'll lay another egg like that this year.

At least I hope to God not.

I am hoping the same, beating yall this year wont have the same gusto if your season isn't going well.

Maybe I imagined it, but it seems like I saw some scores that indicated that a few other Sun Belt teams were beaten fairly soundly, as well. Here's to better performances by all of us this week 04-cheers

The difference is their fans haven't been starting 3 threads per day for 6 months about how unbeatable their team is.
