Two seasons and a game with one total win. I think anyone would be on the hot seat with that record.

Also, I'd suggest Mark Speir from Western Carolina. He's turned them into a playoff hopeful team from something that was worse than what GSU is now.

I know that sounds a lot like Trent Miles...

Good thing you're not an athletic director.

I thought about Speir also. He would probably do a good job. Either either Huesman or Speir, Cobb wouldn't have to look too far since he's already familiar. That kind of fits his MO for coaching searches.

Huesman and Speir would be good choices. If you can turn around WCU, you can turn around anyone.

Bet you a steak dinner he gets three maybe four wins in the SBC. You do know who handed him this program. Chicken Curry who was just drawing an improved retirement.

I doubt we go FCS again. Hope we get someone who can recruit Atlanta.

so you think they will go with someone who hasn't been a head coach before?

that's the only way you will pull someone who isn't an FCS head coach, is to go after an fbs assistant at a g5 program.

I think we have tough decision to make and some people are going to have to prove they are all in with this HC decision and stadium decision. I don't think that hiring another FCS coach and paying him the 108th highest salary in the country is going to capture the imagination of Atlanta and recruits. Look what happened in Dallas as soon as Chad Morris was hired.

And right now you're offering scholarships to linemen who are cast off because that is what this staff apparently can get. I have watched the transformation in attitude, recruiting and alumni and community interest at Houston, Temple and SMU for instance. Whoever is hired has to send the message to media, alumni, the city and high schools that we are taking this seriously. And I think it's vital that have some Atlanta or North Georgia ties.

Who knows. Likely a million. Like. Key at UCF. He is the heir apparent so likely nothing draws him away. I don't know what Cristobal is being promised at Bama. Maybe he is waiting for Al Golden to be fired.

IMO - Pull Bobby Lamb from Mercer. Great coach. Recruits the south well. History with App and GS. Winner.

Other ideas?

Honestly don't think Coach Lamb would be interested. Think he knows he's got a good thing going at Mercer.

He would be interested just like Clark left us for FBS and Fritz left Sam. Coaches have egos too.

Clark would be a good choice as he could commute from his house for awhile. He lives halfway between Bham and ATL.
Pretty sure Clark has a job

Are you keeping up with the BOTs latest antics? He may not have a chance to coach them with all the road block with continue to rise.

Any reasonable person would consider other jobs plus he can retire from the AL system now.

We are not the first school to be where we are right now and someone took those other jobs. People should do more worrying about their own programs.

He's 41-29 at UTC including 18-8 over the past two seasons, turning them from also-ran to conference contender. But by all means base your judgement off of one game. 07-coffee3

Problem is convincing someone to turn things around if they only get 2-3 years (which doesn't even give them a full recruiting cycle).

There are no more 5 year plans in football.

That's crazy. They haven't been around long enough for anyone to consider it career suicide.

What I'm wondering is (and I don't say this to be a dick) what is the problem? Is the AD not supporting the program so the coach struggles? Just bad hires? Difficulty in getting consistent decent players?

The team doesn't appear to have the OVERALL talent (individual spots have good talent though) to compete, which says the coach is recruiting poorly... Just the question would be why.

You've gotta have something longer term to sell to recruits for stability though.
