RE: Ohio @ Idaho Game Thread - 8:00pm (CST)
Just to continue our frustrations tonight, CUSA is having one of the best nights that league has had in a while. WKU knocked off yet another SEC opponent in Vanderbilt, and FIU managed to somehow beat Central Florida. UTSA down only 1 to Arizona at half.

In some strange news. Southern Utah is beating Utah State 9-5 in the 4th quarter. That would be a terrible loss for the MWC.

If Georgia State loses tomorrow, I move we kick them out of the league.

WKU beat a horrible Vandy team, still P5, but only because of history. UTSA could have an incredible night with that win.

My prediction when they were admitted was that they would not win a FBS game for 3 years and that Benson was likely screwing the female AD at GSU because them being considered as an addition simply didn't make sense. Yell me now how far off my prediction is/was.

On an unrelated matter, EKU blows away Valpo 52-10 .. . Nice win Colonels

We should have added EKU with CCU.

Anyone know how many people were at the game???

I know the stadium is under construction, how many does it currently hold during construction???

Attendance was 12,800

Honestly, Ohio didn't even look that great. Idaho legitimately looked like a middling FCS team. These are the OOC games that are must wins for the SBC to improve our "perceived" view as the bottom of the G5. The middle of the MAC HANDLED the bottom of the Sunbelt, with the score making it look closer than it was. Hopefully Ga State took a good step forward this year. We'll see this afternoon.

You guys are going to have a lot of eyes on you from the SBC, and not just football. We will be watching basketball, baseball, softball. Prove yourself when we are watching.

Considering that at the time we were admitted, there were four additional large research universities (two with very young football programs) in the SBC and the conference was courting UTSA, Charlotte, and possibly ODU, we made a lot of sense. The dynamics changed when C-USA grabbed half the conference and then some.

We did too, through the first half of last season and that turned out well.

I really do not want to pile on Idaho but they really need to have an overhaul with the football program. Since 2009 it has been a train wreck the school leadership and alumni need to get something going. It is state flagship school for goodness sakes. I will continue to pull for them but going on six years now. Time to reassess from top to bottom. I'm not even talking about being in contention for the conference just being competitive would be nice, its killing the conference ranking and rep. With all the FCS teams out there I would also recommend not scheduling a good option team as well. The FCS is full of trainwreck programs to buy a win when you are down.

So a 1-10 team faces a 6-6 team who is picked to finish 2nd in it's division and to be one of the most improved teams in the country and loses by 17 with a garbage time TD and a fluke pick 6, and that's the definition of a FCS program?

In the first game in a completely new defensive system we struggled (shocker) and lost that quarter by a score of 21-3 with the pick 6 that came on a deflection. Then a team with serious depth issues and with our #2 WR hurt on the first series wins the last 3 quarters 25-24 which includes an Ohio TD with 42 seconds left. There are some very positive signs here that Idaho is going in the right direction. We'll need another recruiting class to boost our depth but I would bet we win at least 2 sun belt games this year and push a lot of teams further than they expected. Unfortunately football programs aren't built overnight.
