So it doesn't get buried in one of the other threads, put your stadium plans here.
Please tell me there is a plan.

RE: CCU stadium plans
There is a plan. We are going to connect the visitor and home sides with the Adkins field house stands (in our endzone) to create a full horseshoe.
Then we will add an upper level (assuming with a matching press box) to the visitor's side to mirror the home side. All we've heard is that it will probably match the home side. So the finished product will be a very nice horseshoe.
We are hearing it will seat anywhere from 21k to 25k. I don't think anyone knows the exact number for the capacity at this point.
But it is going to be very nice, from what we are hearing.

The fact that it is 20 minutes from the beach makes it nice in itself.

Oh yeah, that is nice. Fans will be able to choose between going to a football game, going for a swim or both. Think about it, if all of the SBC schools had that, then the league could change the name to the Sunny Beach Conference. Too bad all colleges don't have a campus football stadium. Woe is us.

Can confirm that closeness to the beach enhances niceness level of stadium by a factor of 10. Of course ours is only 5 minutes from the beach. :)

Not sure what you're getting at here, but our stadium is indeed on campus. Our campus itself is 20 minutes from the beach.
But to your point, yes, having other activities in the area to compete with makes it more difficult to get butts in the seat. I get it.
But with absolutely zero visiting fans coming to our home games and us still getting crowds of circa 10k, I don't think hitting 15k fans in the sun belt will be too hard if App State and GaSo are really bringing 5k or more people like they indicate they will.
We will do our best. Something tells me you'll still end up coming and making a fun vacation out of it. We would love to have you.

You guys have an on campus stadium. USA, however, does not, which is what he was getting at.
And Georgia Southern will definitely bring at least 5k. We should as well, but I think GS is a guarantee, what with it being the Redneck Riviera and all.

It'll be hard to tell the GaSo guests from the locals. Mullets and FUPA's all around.

RE: CCU stadium plans
I remember getting drunk and going to a waffle house at 1am in Myrtle Beach. Was talking crap to some CCU fans there.
They were talking about how their RB was gonna kill us, and I told them they better get used to hearing the name "Jayson Foster".
Foster ended up running for something like 250 yards and 6 TD's. haha. It was a great night.
Look forward to going back to Myrtle.

What I'm getting at is that we (USA) don't have a OCS and no plans to have one anytime soon, although "a study" is in progress to see if we really need one. And congratulations for your invitation to join our illustrious conference, plus getting an expansion to you stadium. Good luck.

All the niceness between CCU fans and the rest of us makes me wonder who will have the first argument with them. A GS,UL,or APP fan. Being one the level headed StAte fans I know it won't come from our group.[/i]

RE: CCU stadium plans
The biggest question is what the University does with a road that currently runs behind the Southern end zone and scoreboard. In prior plans they discussed changing the route of the road to prepare for an eventual and potential "bowl". Now that we are FBS (it feels great to say that), what will they decided to do with the road. I guess only time will tell....

RE: CCU stadium plans
Our president said in an interview today that the CFO is literally getting the plans started now. The stadium was designed for upgrade, so we've always had "plans." Now it's just actually getting the architecture and design finalized, getting the bid out, etc. It's supposed to start immediately after the season ends.
As to who has the first argument with us, I don't see much hostility in the future. I don't think many of us have big egos. We've had a team for a little over a decade. We've seen incredible success in just the last three years. So we know the best is ahead and there isn't much to be insulted by. That's my take at least.
