At least we have more time than we did this go around.

I just hope we don't hold up the contact for Clark any longer. It's time to get that done! In fact, it will help reach that next goal, I believe.

It's gonna be tough to squeeze out another $2.2 million out of people in just a few months. Hopefully some more corporations will buy in. Literally.

If these were goals instead of "deadlines" it wouldn't infuriate me so much. There is an implied threat with the word that makes it sinister.

On the brighter side, I do like that Hatton Smith keeps talking about a stadium. He makes me want to believe.

Sooner or later the BOT is gonna push to hard against the wrong people. That train is coming down the tracks. It's just a matter of time.

They basically want your 5-year commitment in less than 13 months. After that its anyone's guess. Perhaps 5-year recommitments that they'll want within two years.

Stay positive. We have a group of supporters we have never had before. They are sold that UAB is good for Bham. They will make sure it's successful.

They want 5-year commitments, well so do we. We want a 5-year contract for HCBC.

1 Fuzzy Math if the January Money was for "operating expenses it would be for the second year's installment - not all five years.

2) However the money on Jan.1 is for project funding. "Smith said the money will be used primarily for facility upgrades, as well as a new
stadium." This cash money could actually be needed by then to fund the planning and hopefully mobilizing expenses for projects of this scope and quick timetable. This may actually be appropriate timetable. Sorry it may take all the fun out of it - we do love to be able to ***** at BOT.

RE: Next deadline. $4.5 million by January 1st
BoT is mandating these "deadline"/goals to make sure the pledges are coming in at a level that proves the UaB supporters are serious about supporting the return of the programs. Ingram, as AD, says it's the Athletic Department's "deadline"/goal because he has to make sure we keep the programs alive and can build facilities sooner than later. Ingram also wants the money flowing in so he can establish a solid contract with HC Clark with the money to back it up. He has to have a budget that is based on hard dollars, not just promises. He goes to the BoT with a big contract for HC Clark and the pledges are not coming in at a level that supports even returning the programs, they will surely reject everything. (Heck they could still do that out of spite!) We just have to keep our pledge dollars coming in - at an accelerated pace if possible!

This might be a stupid question... But, what operating expenses do we have now that we wouldn't have had before killing the program? Actually, it should be extremely less, with only 33 players and a handful of coaches, whose salaries should have already been budgeted. Recruiting budget will need to be higher than normal, but that's another self-inflicted cost. 03-banghead Imagine what we could have done with money Tennessee was going to pay us for beating them, rather than having to pay them to play a lesser opponent.

This article says Clark's agent didn't comment due to negotiations ongoing. Does that mean it's actually happening now?

Football is still getting $9 million out of the $20 million athletics budget, right? Why can't all the coaches be paid out of that?

Is Clark seriously going to be paid by pledges? What other university employees are paid with pledge money?

I think that's a legitimate question: IS Football getting any of the $20mil?

Well we have to pay for the increase in Coach Haase's salary & staff.

That would not have been there without Watts trying to shift focus off of football.
