I expect GSU will be ready and eager to pull the upset. It's a 7:30 start which is nice, the evening/night games in Morgantown can be a tremendous atmosphere.

Hope it's the start of a great year for both teams. 04-cheers Mostly I just can't wait for football to start!!

Six of us total... Group of 4 traveling from Atlanta plus one from Chicago and another from New York

Very cool! Hope you have a good experience in Morgantown. It's a pretty fun college town vibe.

Don't really understand this. We started the season 4-2, finished 5-1. The Navy game to me was a throwaway due to circumstances. We weren't eligible for postseason, but the very next week we were guaranteed a Sun Belt championship if we won in Paulson vs ULM. Have to believe that had to do with the huge letdown we had in Annapolis.

What happened at Navy was somewhat predictable. Navy had a bye week ahead of the game, it was their senior day, and homecoming. They were also somewhat underrated due to McReynolds' injuries earlier in the year.

GS played like crap but Navy had an awful lot to do with it.

Why don't some of you learn it before you come to our board talking smack. Our program is on a different level than GSU. And that's a fact. You should respect programs that have history and tradition. When we played Alabama last year do you think we talked smack to them? No. But I get it. You can't act like you have been on a big stage before bc you never have been.

WVU 54 GSU 21

Wrong team haha. Sorry guys I'm on midnights woke up to read some Georgia southern posters talking smack and posted this. Very sorry

Absolutely cannot make this stuff up.

Their fans remind me a lot of UGA fans. A lot of rednecks that have never stepped foot on campus, let alone a college classroom.

One of their most vocal fans has given us all of this **** about how they're going to "destroy" us and comparing us to Marshall. He's a bag boy at Kroger somewhere in rural south Georgia.

This is very true. The University of West Virginia represents the entire state. They have no other team to root for besides Marshall. Kids in grade school are dressed in Mountaineer gear even though their parents never attended. Very similar to UGA.

RE: WVU / Georgia Southern game
lets be honest here, you guys have been on the WV message board, almost every day, talking trash, for over 3 weeks!!! 3 weeks!!! Who does that? Honestly, the way I look at it, if you come on my school's board, and talk crap, your fair game for whatever I say about your school and your program. Now, I think you guys will give them a much closer game than the WV faithful will like, and if, somehow you beat them, god help them, you guys will be on that board 24/7 telling them about the greatness that is GS, they might have to close down that board.

Ehh I have no idea on this game. We will find out quickly how good Upshaw is and whether it is going to be a long year with our o line. Either way WVU took a nose dive towards the end of the year hopefully that trend continues. I mean they had to battle with a horrible Iowa State team which I have no doubt we could beat. So if the team that ended the year for WVU shows up and we can be the team as good as the start of last year its even money. We wet the bed the first half playing Tech and came back so even if it looks bad early don't be surprised if it get close again.

We kinda went down hill as the season progressed also.

I will take going 3-1 towards the end as going down hill every year. Especially when we played two of the better Sun Belt teams on the schedule and Navy...Just because we did not win all three by 20+ does not mean we were going down hill. The competition for the last three games was much better than the worst five teams in the Sun Belt at the time stretch we had. If we played Idaho, Troy, NMSU and GaState last we would be overhyped right now instead of "going down hill"

Believe me, it's only two or three fans and they're the same ones that always do this. We've asked them to stop, but what can you do?

Friendly small talk about the game is one thing, but it drives me crazy to see our fans go start **** on another message board. Especially when their posts are riddled with spelling errors, making us fit the South Georgia stereotype.

agree, I know that the majority of GS fans are good guys who just want to pull for their team, but the few, who feel the need to thump their chest, and tell the world how great GS is, and who never, ever shut up, makes all of you look bad.

I gave them about a 35 to 40% chance before Ellison went down. Now I'd say a 15 to 20% chance to win.

Every school has people that do this kind of thing including App. I have been attending GS games sense I playedmy last seaso there in 1990. Majority of people I meet and know there are decent, good folks who are like any decent folks at other schools. I have seen some a few idiots at GS, but I have been to Auburn, UGA, Florida, Fla St, Marshall, Troy, Notre Dame, and several others and seen idiots. Your going to find them at any college football schools.

Southern just needs to stay competitive and give themselves a chance to win in the 4th QTR. If they can do that, I'd be satisfied!

7.1 ypp

That's pretty damn productive offensive output.

3 turnovers and 7 penalties vs 0 for each.

That was the difference. Failure to complete drives was the other.

I'm tired of our fans lacking an understanding of what was going on in that game.

If I had to choose between the two it would be Ellison just based on experience but Upshaw has proven to be the better passer and is faster. Unfortunately from what I saw he is not hard to tackle at all and although the fastest on the team it is more straight line. I did not see a lot of nasty cuts or jukes. Hopefully he has put on some weight and the passing is even better this year.

Watch the games at the end of the year. He improved dramatically.

And with our offense, typically one cut is all it takes. Find the hole, get through it, get vertical.

One of the best things about moving up is getting a higher quality officiated game. I don't remember any horrible calls against us and just remember maybe one or two where I was like we got a break there. A typical SoCon game would have multiple.

If that's what you want to believe there's nothing anybody can do to change that, but what I saw was Navy basically beat the crap out of GS. GS never come close to slowing McReynolds down, and GS accumulated some stats (that you mention above), shot themselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties (losing football), and Navy made them pay for every mistake (winning football).

Navy was ready to play and was ready to whip GS's ass. GS made mistakes (some were forced by good Navy play) and Navy ate them a new ******* as a result. I don't see how anybody who watched that game either drunk or sober can dispute that.

Stats are for losers, the only stat that matters is the final score.
