I am thinking either we announce a decision within the next 10 days or nothing until after football season is over. Still wondering if only 1 candidate can be agreed upon with the east-west issue ever present

Usually these decisions leak out but so far I'm not hearing anything about a decision.

Coastal has a big banquet they are advertising on local radio on the 28th.
Hopefully they get the invite by then.

It's the annual fundraising gala for athletics. If Coastal gets the invite it would be nice for it to be announced by then but wouldn't be a big deal if it was announced later.

Does anyone really believe we will sit pat this time? I think not. IMO it will be Costal or all three. No way NMSU comes in as the only full sports option. NMSU equals all three.

What's driving the need to add anyone right now?

Sanity in scheduling, possibly improve hoops, maybe make an addition that makes baseball much stronger.

Sun Belt olympic sports are currently playing 20 game home and home conference schedules.

Reducing overall travel, number of conference games, and schedule congestion seem to be the drivers.

Getting 12 in oly sports to split into divisions. With that the Sunbelt can go to a 16 conference schedule.
You play round robin within your division and play the other division once playing them a their home every other year.

I don't see divisions happening in Olympic Sports. We may go to a 16 or 18 game schedule, but who you play twice each year will just be rotated I imagine.

If the decision is Coastal and/or EKU maybe the announcement will wait until after football season so the Big South or OVC can t disqualify either this year from winning the conference championship

I see the SBC adding EKU only. Hopefullly.

I'm kinda wondering about the procedure of the choice.
If all three are really in play, how do they go about even deciding what the proposition is to vote on?
Do they vote up/down on each one individually? If so, how do they narrow if all are approved?
If no team gets the necessary votes, do they wrangle with it all day, like a trial jury, until the come to a conclusion?

Maybe I'm better off not knowing.

What I am curious about is whether the presidents can agree on only 1 candidate. I hope all 3'get invited

After all this talk of needing a 12th team for olympic sports if we don t invite anyone it is clear evidence the conference is badly split into east-west factions and probably the only way to expand is a compromise involving multiple teams
