Input from a Texas A&M fan . . . . . The young man is indeed a speedster. He originally verbaled to Texas A&M when coming out of high school. But I think a look at the depth chart and an opportunity for earlier playing time prompted him to change his commitment to TCU.

Best I remember he may not have placed higher than 4th in the 100m in high school. He normally ran in the low to mid 11s in track which would put him in the fast category but not the real fast in Alabama high school track. My local high school which is a lower class than Auburn had 3 in this range or lower his senior year.

No, just he wasnt super fast in the 100m in high school. Of course never seen a 200m football field or a 100m either. I guess it takes him awhile to get his speed up.

How many 100m state championships did he win? This the event for the fast guys if you didnt known.

Every team needs a little track speed on it...

Yep. Don't really care where he ranks. I just know he is really fast. Faster than the average college football player and that is good enough for me.

Live about 30 min from Auburn and go over during the playoffs to watch Opelika and or Auburn high schools play. Saw Cameron play in high school and he was very good. Very fast. You guys are getting a good one in this guy.

I've never seen a track competition in which the participants wear football uniforms. Stay on topic.

Looks like he would have been a junior at TCU. Is he a one or two year guy for Arkansas State?

He was also part of TCU 4x100 relay team that placed 2nd at the NCAA finals in the spring with a time of 38.59, so i'm guessing he is plenty fast.

Sad to see him go as he was a reliable and explosive punt returner for TCU, but he was having trouble breaking into the line up outside of special teams. Wish him the best of luck in his move to Arkansas State.

FYI, Echols-Loper will run track at AState as well and will be immediately eligible for that. So he will be joining our already dangerous track program's quest to knock Texas Arlington off their pedestal.

It's pretty hard to quantify whether or not he's the 4th fastest player in the NCAA.

He's certainly fast, and he's an excellent punt returner.
In 2 seasons he's returned 47 punts for an 11.4 yard/punt average and 1 TD.
As a kick returner, he's been very pedestrian (11 returns for 11.5 yards/return).
He hasn't done much as a receiver either - 13 rec. for 93 yards, 0 TD (7.1 ypc).

Of course, he won't be returning any kicks at ASU if he does play QB (though that may just be what he's hearing from Trooper to get him to Jonesboro).

Luper's dad has worked with five different members of the AState staff including Trooper. I don't believe there is any real possibility that the talk of a shot at QB was done with fingers crossed. Between coaches you don't make enemies needlessly.

Echols-Luper I think is going to be a serious QB contender. He's a bit taller than Knighten, a good bit faster than Knighten and looking at his high school videos as a high school senior his passing was about where Knighten's was a rising sophomore at AState.
