RE: NMSU AD on Sun Belt Visit
The whole travel partner issue is solved when we get to 12 basketball playing members regardless of which school is admitted. My preference, selfishly, is Coastal because it is closer to App State. However, I have absolutely no problem with NMSU if they happen to be the choice.

Let it be known that if NMSU is the topic, Bobcat87 will take a shot at App in some way.

RE: NMSU AD on Sun Belt Visit
Obviously, I am in favor of NMSU's inclusion into the SBC in all sports. But despite my bias, I don't understand the whole "addition of an eastern member" argument by some App State fans when having either Coastal Carolina as a travel partner (Conway approx. 222 miles) or having Georgia State (Atlanta approx. 230 miles) as a travel partner is virtually a wash when it comes to distance. It is the rest of the conference, which will need sacrifice from having "instate" travel partners, that should have greater issue with adding NMSU. Just an observation.

Just to point this out...no one has any idea what will happen. We've heard a lot of speculation that NMSU cannot get the votes without an East School, but we have no idea what the Presidents and Chancellors are actually thinking.

Heck, they could listen to the expansion committee, and decide they don't want to add anyone for all we know.

RE: NMSU AD on Sun Belt Visit
NMSU is the best add by a long shot. We let their best sport, which would become one of the best if not the best, sit in some decaying conference. I understand the concerns of the east, I really do, but when such a no brainer is available, you add them. I'm sure your extra travel cost will be made up for the additional revenue their basketball has the ability to pull in. I'm sick of watching them have such a great team and ask to be in the SBC and the SBC can't decide. I know football moves most interest but I look at NMSUs bball like USM football. They are historically strong and unlike USM football they are bouncing back in a good way.

I don't really care for the adds of EKU or CCU but if it means that is the only way to get NMSU then you add one or both of them too.

Presidents and Chancellors? I thought, based on our ULL friends, that this was all in King Karl's court (or green)? Did I miss something? Fuel To The Fire

Lots of speculation on all sides but what is known is that NMSU was visited so that tells me they have to be under serious consideration.

I think all three schools will get added. It's just the timeline that needs to get worked out.

RE: NMSU AD on Sun Belt Visit
Hmm...very interesting they visited NMSU. Moccia sounds very positive about it.
If think that if they visited NMSU they will be added without EKU and Coastal. With NMSU you can split into divisions which gives the east schools (depending how scheduling is played out) playing at NMSU (and other west division members) every other year.

Given the visit of EKU and Coastal, I believe they will be added down the road only if the CCG is necessary and can make $$$ for the Sunbelt.

This also means the Idaho will not be renewed so that there will be 10 football schools until EKU and CC are added or even some other school.

One thing I wonder is if the Sunbelt is getting ready to ditch the non-fb schools and become like all of the other FBS conferences which do not have non-fb playing schools.

Imo (not to sidetrack the original post), if ND joined any conference as a full time member, it would be the Big 10.

I also think all 3 schools will be added . . regardless of what has been stated by those in the know . . no one knows what the Presidents/Chancellors will do except the Presidents/Chancellors.
