I believe it was chiefan who said that NMSU's contract stated that if there was expansion NMSU had to be included in the discussion (or something to that effect).

So they may NOT be in serious consideration... It's kind of a vague area (assuming my recollection is correct).

Tell you what . . . If you, and your Appy peers, can give a credible reason for not adding an established FBS Program (NMSU) with great BB, which the Belt needs, and pretty good baseball, other than their distance from Boone. . . . Then I'll quit taking shots . . . But when your only rationale is .. . Their too far from us . . . . then you rate any shot taken . . .

I don't think I would call NMSU "great BB" or even "pretty good baseball." NMSU is 137-71 over the past six seasons with five tournament appearances in six years in basketball. No tournament wins. Coastal is 134-63 over the past six years, with two straight tournament appearances. No tournament wins. NMSU does have the better RPI over the six year period.

Coastal had an RPI of 19 last season in baseball, which would have been the best in the SBC last season. NMSU had an RPI of 289, which would have been the worst in the SBC last season. Coastal has made the NCAA tournament 12 of the past 15 years in baseball.

Throw in Coastal's men's soccer program, which is one of the best in the country and keeps the SBC auto bid with six schools and it just seems like they are the best choice for a 12th school. They are also bringing a very good FCS football program.

The only route that makes sense for an NMSU addition is at 12/14.

78 is the inverse of 87, good points about baseball.

CCU objectivity isn't that much worse of a candidate before discussing location. What does this tell me personally? We should wait.

What if NMSU offers SIGNIFICANT travel subsidies? They may not be able to come up with enough money but I'm sure it has been discussed to some extent.

NMSU fans any knowledge on this possibility?

IF they can foot the bill what keeps them out?

You would think they ARE in Hawaii according to some in this thread.

Could significant travel subsidies push the AGGIES candidacy over the finish line???

Simply talking baseball.....NMSU won exactly 11 games last year.

And, talk to your baseball coach....I'm guessing he'd vote thumbs down.

Baseball coaches do not like 20-14 games.

That's funny.
The only bb that thrives in central Texas are the Spur's.

After looking at google maps view of NMSU baseball facility. It looks very sparse and unfinished. Is that an old sat pic or did they improve it? I would be hard pressed to call it a college ballpark in that state.

It was improved this past year.
