COA at GS will cover every scholarship athlete. Transportation to and from "home" is one of the things that makes some schools higher than others. About half of our students come from the Greater Atlanta Metro and we also have several from Florida which raises transportation costs. College towns tend to be higher than metro areas.

I've heard rumors ULM will start next year and I believe for all athletes, but could be wrong. Has to be a recruiting advantage with our high number.

and root on our team...you know...no pressure...but now things have changed. I don't like where college athletics are going.

I'll help you out. It's Joneses.

I suck at grammar, but this one drives me crazy. Especially around Christmas time. Ive become a little OCD about it.03-banghead

South Alabama - $5,470
New Mexico State* - $4,046
Louisiana-Lafayette - $4,036

Sun Belt Footnotes
* Arkansas State could pay up to $4,533 based on its COA number, but the actual stipend amount to players is $4,000.
* Georgia Southern's COA is $5,880 out of state and $5,664 in state.
* Georgia State's COA is $3,570 on campus and $1,538 off campus.
* New Mexico State's COA is $4,046 out of state and $4,045 in state.

Southern and ULM's COA is more than any SEC school. Y'all must really know how to cook the books.
Can anybody explain to me why were trying to keep up with the Jonese's? Lord knows this isn't their last effort to break the G-5. We are not keeping up with them, we are separating even more from FCS. The new CFP payout is much higher for the G5 than the BCS payouts and more than covers the cost of providing COA if a program is willing to use the funds for it.

When coaches were not being paid $5 million, players were not training year round and assistants were not making $1 million plus it was reasonable to not pay the athletes. When the cost of stipends for 200 athletes is still only 1/5 of what a lot of head football coaches make then it is very reasonable to provide that extra support. It is that or get sued and lose the whole NCAA cash cow.

This is happening to protect the status quo, not to push us out. We already couldn't compete with Alabama or Oregon given their facilities and salaries but COA stipends allow us to compete with the Purdue and Wake Forrest programs if we choose to do so.

It removes almost any incentive for a kid to choose a top FCS over a lower FBS. Even if it doesn't work out at the FBS, you got some nice checks and can transfer down without penalty.

$6,000 is just the max they can pay. I think we would all be shocked to see ULM pay that amount to 200 athletes.
