what if they make their mascot shave? Would that sway your vote? 05-stirthepot

They could switch it to a black bear maybe.

That remains to be seen . .. .

If it had been seen, they would just be a giant, not a sleeping giant...

I had the same feeling about FAU when they did so well in the FCS and built a new stadium....Honestly I respect how far they have come in 12 years but it has been up and down a bit. My gut and history leans towards the FAU scenario than anything else. SC I believe is at its peak with two FBS schools especially with two top tier FCS programs as well.
If they get the invite I will certainly hope I am wrong and they pull the average up.

My wish list
MoSt by far.
JMU
EKU
LIberty
CCU by default.
In my opinion FAU was held back by keeping an old coach, Howard was well past his glory days. He did win one sbc, coastal already has better support, plus no dolphins or canes within and hour drive.

Yeah they should have moved on after the move up but he came in the FCS like a wrecking ball. The name and quick success probably bought him two years to long.

CCU has accomplished more during their 12 year football history than EKU over the same time period.

EKU winning 1-AA titles in the late 70's (when 1-AA didn't include a few conferences that stayed 1-A until 1982) isn't impressing me in 2015.

The only thing that scares me about CCU is how much support they can actually get. EKU and EKU athletics have been around a long time. Where as CCU has no history no old alumni and only became completely independent of USC in the 1990's I believe. Honestly if you got every alum of CCU and all the students to come to a game I don't know if they could break 20K and we know only a small percentage of alums come back for sports. This would be like Georgia Southern College jumping up after our first two NC's way to early. Winning a few playoff games does not impress me either I having followed FCS /DIV I-AA football for the better part of twenty years I have seen to many teams rise and fall and only a handful have sustained success. Hofstra was a good program and now they do not even exist. EKU with no recent success is less than 1K difference in attendance than CCU with nearly pulling off a NC. For me it is MoSt and JMU a distant second and very little preference after that. If CCU gets in over EKU it really does not matter to me. My mild disappointment will be tempered by making a beach trip out of the away game.

Only from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The other nine months smooth sailing.

RE: SBC Expansion: Who Will It Be?
Default form for complaining about FCS additions

(Insert name of FCS School here) is a strong program I am sure, but they have never competed at the FBS level before. They have never put up the attendance numbers necessary, and have never had to fundraise to reach this level. Their trip to the FCS Playoffs in (Insert Year Here) Proves nothing because many top SBC programs have flattened playoff level FCS competition recently. They are located in a state with (Insert name of large P5 school here), who will certainly take much of their game day crowd away. (Insert name of football stadium here) is small and needs to be renovated, and their attendance of (Insert attendance number here) is not enough to reach the 15K required for FBS Status. The minute they come into the SBC and struggle, they will have a hard time reaching 10K fans and will further hurt our conference ranking in football. I believe (Insert name of unreachable FBS school here) is a far better option for the Sun Belt, why have we not contacted them?

Funny because I see it opposite of you.

Unless you only attended EKU during two years of WWII, every living EKU alum was there when they had football. CCU is just now getting alums who were there in the football era hitting that age 35 area where you tend to be at a point where you can more easily afford to go to games, want to take the kids to something that is family friendly, and you start having the free time to do such things. One of my best friends went to maybe a game every two or three years until he hit his 50's and no longer had kids at home now makes every home and away game. He went from giving $50 a year to $10,000.

We don't know yet if Coastal's alums will come back, we see the answer with EKU. The Colonels have posted one losing season the last 20 years, heck one losing season since 1978.

Agreed. I'd worry more that EKU has topped out while CCU is still growing.
