Dang that was fast... If he quit once, chances are he wouldn't have made it the whole season anyway and could have been a problem for the team, too many good running backs in GA to waste on someone who doesn't want to really be there. Good Riddance for State.

Makes the school look very desperate to reinstate this guy and get burned.

I don't know. While this situation is very silly and indicative of the rotten luck we usually have, I'd bet a whole bunch of other schools in this conference would have done the same thing, given these same circumstances.
It wasn't academic, and he kept earning credits at Blinn and Kansas after leaving. He was eligible to play immediately, which was a big credit to him, I thought, at the time. It wasn't anything major or criminal, just a team rules thing originally, and he had stayed in frequent contact with Miles and some players after leaving. The decision to bring him back wasn't taken lightly, either, as Miles had been hearing for months from Hammon that he wanted back here, and we consulted team leadership as well. I don't see this as a desperation move, even though everyone can agree he would have helped.
I have no problem with how his return to the team was handled. But after that, it's all up to Hammon. His best route is to go to junior college—Blinn, maybe—and prove that he can fly straight for a year or two, no slip-ups. I don't think he's a bad kid (unless it comes out otherwise with this latest incident), and he's a good football player. I bet he feels pretty bad right now, but unless he can use this failure in order to gain maturity, it's all a big waste.

Some of the most talented football players and basketball players on Earth bag groceries. Not everyone is good at the organization part of organized team sports.

At this point this kid needs to forget football and work on getting his head right so that he isn't another former athlete living under an overpass.

While I agree with that, it may be that his best bet on completing a degree is on a football scholarship. Maybe he doesn't really enjoy playing anymore. Hope for the best for him, whatever happens. Missed seeing his talent after the first two games last year.
FWIW, I know (sorta) one of his former classmates at his Houston-area high school. Reinforced to me he wasn't a bad kid. Anyways...movin' on!

I think he is likely done with football. This is chance number 3 or 4 now I think. Pretty obvious that he needs to focus on getting his head right. We we're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Didn't work.

RE: Hammon Returns to Georgia State
I was shocked to see this in the AJC this morning, less than one week back? It's bigger than football now, you hope he gets things worked out so he can succeed in life.
