Hey GS Fans
Just saw DeMarco Murray interview on the NFL channel. He was wearing a gray sleeveless tee with GATA in large blue letters. He went to OSU. What do you think about that one?

RE: Hey GS Fans
JJ Wilcox might have something to do with that.

I love that it is being used in the NFL.

Edit: Nope, looks like Murray brought it in.

http://www.foxsports.com/southwest/story...nse-081612

Murray wears a T-shirt underneath his pads with the words "Don't talk it, walk it" written on the back. On the front, are the letters G.A.T.A., which stand for "Get After That Ass." The T-shirt was designed by his mixed martial arts instructor in his hometown Las Vegas. He's been involved in MMA training for four years and he recently signed on with a lifestyle brand called Bad Boy. He says the training has helped his quickness and overall agility.

Maybe Wilcox did have something to do with the shirt design, no? Just because the instructor "designed" it doesn't mean there may not have a been a suggestion made, right?

I'm not real pleased with it. It's a GS thing. A guy from NV who played for OK then Dallas and now the (Philadelphia) Eagles just doesn't feel right to me. (and I'm a Philly fan)

eh. It doesn't bother me.

My high school coaches used the phrase. Hell, for all we know, he might have come across something GS or UGA related and saw it, and liked it. As long as it doesn't become a team motto or something, it doesn't bother me.

Philly fan in Texas, that must be interesting.

The article I linked was written 7 months before Wilcox was drafted, so I don't think he had much to do with it.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I am with CatMom. It doesn't feel right. It is like with New Orleans and Who Dat? As an avid Falcons fan, I hate hearing that, but if all of a sudden the University of Miami decided they were going to put that on a shirt. I would be like dude get your own. Let it be a Southern and to an extent UGA thing.

Erk Russell was the ultimate motivator. He coined the term while at UGA, but I view it as his. When UGA or GS use it, I view it as honoring Erk. In general, I think it should stay within GS and UGA unless someone uses it specifically to honor Erk. But, the world keeps spinning either way.

It's really not as hard as one would think. Games I've gone to in Dallas, Philly was (amazingly) very well repped.

TXST has a former QB/WR that was born and raised in CC and he's an ardent Eagles fan. I know a kid born and raised in Houston, that plays for Seattle, who is (grew up) an Eagles fan (played at OU, was drafted, but cut, by Philly in 2013.) Then again, there is a current TXST player born and raised in Philly that's a Cowboys fan. (sad really)

My brother was a Packer fan. My sister is a Vikings fan. Go figure.

We used to use that to break out of practice when I was in high school. Not sure where they heard it.

It is really spreading every where and soon the origins will turn into a jumbled mess. We know where it came from for us. Now is it possible someone else coincidentally started the same thing across the country with out ever hearing it before? well, yes. It seems to be fully adopted by GS and hopefully we have the TM.

RE: Hey GS Fans
If another collegiate/professional team tries to adopt it as their motto then I'd have a serious objection with it. I have a problem with UGA using it to an extent because they had the opportunity to capitalize on it and never did.

He was more beloved in Statesboro than any other place he worked or lived. His legend continues to grow at Georgia Southern.

It is my understanding that we have it trademarked, but only recently.

I was watching Eagles games before there was even a Cowboys team. Deal with it. Yes, I'm that old and I started watching when I was very little. At least it's better than my grandson being force fed Steelers.

RE: Hey GS Fans
UGA fans will argue, but that school (through Vincr Dooley) kicked Erk to the curb after the NC in 1980. Erk was told he would be HC because Dooley was going to Auburn. UGA has made a lot of money and become the biggest underachiever in college football while Erk built something uniquely special at Georgia Southern. Remember he left the National Champions to start a program from scratch for $1 more than his UGA salary. F..k UGA!

GATA is Erk's and GS because UGA stopped using it and doing it.

The banner's are stupid and Kelly has dismantled the team so I'm not expecting much. I've been through worse with them but that just proves I'm loyal and don't jump ship when things go bad. Hey, I root for TXST. Where do you think I was weened to be able to endure stuff like "the knee" and the Wright years?
