I would have the SEC "sell" Missouri and Arkansas to the Big 12.
Then they could set up an extensive blended network over multiple platforms to include the Big 12 (12), SEC(12) and ACC(14 +1).
I think Texas and Oklahoma would agree that this isn't welfare for basketball schools. So no thank you.
That's a little short-sighted response JR.
It actually gives Texas and Oklahoma exactly what they want. A Premier home game every year that their fans can get exited about (which helps them sell tickets, plus it allows them to remain where they really want to be (in a conference of their own where they can be the the rulers of the roost).
It does not detract at all from the SEC or reduce any of their TV monies either from CBS/ESPN or the SECN. Heck it does not even reduce the quality of play. But if you think that is a concern, we"ll trade you any SEC eastern time zone team for Florida State.
Take the blinders off JR. This is not about greed, it's about teamwork. Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia etc. will still make tons more money than K-State, Baylor, Boston College, Syracuse etc., but the SEC can capitalize on the strengths of the other conferences and vice versa. It's a win-win. Inter league play and conference schedules could rule the airwaves in a way that no single conference could muster.

Ehh,
That's a deal that works really well for the Big 12 and not really anyone else. Mizzou is not going back to the Big 12 and there's absolutely no reason they should be forced to be. Same with Arkansas, they left Texas once before and shouldn't have to be relegated to serfdom again.
Not to mention, that does hurt the SEC. No reason for ESPN to go for anything like that.

RE: SEC/ACC merger
I'm not sold on a merger, but an alliance between both the SEC and ACC in all sports would be huge as far as TV contracts and Fan interests go. Travel would be fan friendly as well. The B1G and Big 12 could do the same and the Pac would diminish in interest outside of the Western time zones.

That might not work, but a Big12-ACC blended network could do just the trick.
Vocal players within both the Big 12 and ACC are calling for conference networks. Neither has enough inventory or demand on its own, but together it gets a nice college sports network with coverage and distribution from Texas to Florida to Massachusetts.
Put together some Big12-ACC OOC games for football and basketball. Bam! You get a nice network, some more $$, and no realignment needed.

If the SEC tried to sell Mizzou, the BIG would absolutely swoop in and correct their awful mistake in not grabbing Mizzou... That said, I believe the SEC is a very loyal conference which takes care of their own. Never never ever happen...

You should look back a bit further in history, where one can find counter examples. Several times the SEC or eventual SEC members caused changes in membership, typically over academic or recruiting rules, only for the rules to later become nationwide standards. The SEC's biggest shortcoming from a management standpoint has always been it's penny-wise pound-foolish approach to academic and recruiting restrictions.
