As one of the UDD writers who took part in this, I understand the criticism of the series. I didn't come up with the idea, but my defense of it is that it's the off-season and there wasn't a lot of news to write 400-800 word blogs about. I'm open to campy off-season blog ideas for July.

Depends how one sees it. I've never liked being compared to the P5 schools. I think we're better than several P5 schools as it is. Making strange comparisons like this always relegate us to 2nd class.

I used it for a while, but our Athletic Director has made it very clear he does not like the Mid Major term, and doesn't want us as fans using it, so hardly any of us use it anymore.

Not a bad piece, but inaccurate in the claim Troy was winning I-AA titles, I think. Didn't Troy win a D-2 title?

Or is it conference titles the writer is referring to?

Troy was only in 1AA less than 10 years. Several conference championships and was ranked #1 a couple times and deep play off runs but no NC in 1AA

We have a couple of NC in D2

I loathe the term "mid-major." F that BS. Just play.

Mike lotief our softball coach is very vocal about not using that term... Says nobody will define them and preaches it to the team.

thanks for the honest answer. so according to your athletic director wkuyg and the other western fans that argued against it's use were right all along.

and instead of being ridiculed by the majority on this board and especially the ga state fans that fell over themselves to call themselves mid-major, they should have been lauded.
