Exclamation % of Yards Returning (Phil Steele)
http://philsteele.com/Blogs/2015/JUNE15/DBJune09.html

2. Arkansas State (97.13%)
3. Appalachian St (96.46%)
30. New Mexico St (82.02%)
31. Georgia St (81.71%)
36. Texas St (80.57%)
38. Troy (80.44%)
41. Georgia Southern (78.84%)
92. Idaho (52.55%)
103. Louisiana (44.51%)
114. South Alabama (36.70%)

Most of the league will return a veteran offense with three or four teams looking to rebuild (or reload).

Interesting list. I thought Ga Southern would be higher. Crazy how much stAte and Appy are returning. They both should have "bowl or bust" seasons. Would also be interesting to compare "% of yards returning" to "yards returning".

Interesting, I'd like to see a similar comparison but from a defensive standpoint and then combine the two to get an overall take.

Defensive % comes out tomorrow on Phil's blog.

This is precisely why I think those bottom two in particular could struggle this year to score enough points to compete for the title.

Stats can be fun especially when it's still 3 months to kick off...Gotta say as a stAte fan I'm glad to see them so high up. I think it will lead to a very good season.

Gotta say though...I don't really care too much for this stat...sorry...I don't mean to be a rain cloud. The problem with this stat is that it doesn't take into consideration that if you have all that skill position talent returning, what if your O-Line all graduated...and what if a team went 1-11 last year and got hammered 11 times while scoring only 10 points a game but returns its entire lousy offense from 2014...that team would be at 100% in this category and probably would not win many games.

Having said that...stAte play USC and Missouri this year...and I'm happy to see those 2 teams at numbers 71 and 76 respectively...but most PAC 10 and SEC teams reload pretty good every year.

There are enough stats for everyone to find something to look good and sell tickets. This is why we don't look at these things too closely.

That's why you pair stats with other stats.

You're never gonna have a crystal clear picture. When combined with previous win-loss records, a recruiting analysis, and other stats you can start to put teams on a range.
