Ramsey Named ABCA All-America, UNCW Lands On Three All-Region Team

Baseball | 6/14/2015 7:48:00 PM | Tom Riordan

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Following a tremendous season as UNCW's dominant reliever, Jordan Ramsey was named American Baseball Coaches Association third-team All-America and was joined on the Association's All-East Coast Regional squad by catcher Gavin Stupienski and first baseman Corey Dick.

Ramsey, who earned All-East first-team honors, became the first UNCW pitcher to earn All-America honors since 2008, when Brad Holt also earned third-team ABCA honors. Stupienski and Dick were second-team honorees.

Ramsey, who was selected in the seventh round last week in Major League Baseball's draft, finished the season with career highs in wins (8) and saves (7) after making the transition to the bullpen following three seasons in the starting rotation. The hard-throwing Ramsey struck out 62 hitters in 48 innings. The righthander earned first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors as well as CAA All-Tournament and NCCSIA All-State honors.

Stupienski continued his own award haul which include second-team All-CAA, CAA All-Tournament, NCAA Baton Rouge All-Regional and NCCSIA All-State accolades. Stupienski moved into the starting catcher role after seeing limited time as red-shirt freshman in 2014 and responded with a .344 batting average, six home runs and 37 runs batted in.

Dick concluded his career with a strong postseason that saw him be named CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Performer as UNCW claimed its fourth conference championship and made its seventh NCAA tournament appearance. He finished the season with a .324 batting average and was tied for the club lead with six homers and was second in RBI's with 41.
