Go Daddy Bowl gets Date Change
Wednesday night two days before Christmas. That seems pretty rough. Shouldn't be bad for USA, Troy, or Georgia Southern to handle though.

My question I guess would be why. Kinda liked its date. I would think with waiting for championship it being the only game in town so to speak. Maybe someone could enlighten me.

Did you ever watch it on TV? If you did, you know that the announcers barely acknowledge that the two teams actually playing are there. The entire broadcast is essentially an ad for the NC game.

That date makes it more attractive to many Cajuns fans, as well.

I liked that it was the only game on but by the time it was played everyone's attention had turned to the championship game. Pre-Christmas will probably be a better date for this game.

Unfortunately there is no good way to get from Statesboro or Savannah to Mobile, 7.5 to 8 hour drive from either IF you don't experience traffic complications. I'm guessing it would actually be easier for our and GA State's fans in Atlanta to make that trip. Having said that, I'd be there!

Can we possibly cover both bowl games?

Doesn't matter when or which G5 bowl game is being played, the announcers aren't watching the game, just pimping the next P5 bowl or championship game. Even halftime reports are about other games, nothing about the game your actually watching.

RE: Go Daddy Bowl gets Date Change
The January date has been pretty convenient for most stAte fans. Dealing with the holidays and family events, this date will be more difficult. Hopefully, we will get a different bowl this year, as I think 5 times in a row in Mobile might be too much. This bowl season will be up in the air for me as my second child is expected to be brought into this world on December 14th.

This is better for the schools ... Don't have to keep the players longer during the break

But, what about the love affair between the Cure Bowl and your school? Are y'all cheating on them already? 05-nono

RE: Go Daddy Bowl gets Date Change
I actually thought this was a great time slot from a TV Perspective. It will probably draw higher ratings than the Sunday Night game. I really thought ESPN would be moving it to the Saturday Dec 19th slot 11am to go against the Cure Bowl. It looks like ESPN may not use that time slot unless they put St. Pete in it. All the other Bowl Games left have at least one P5 in them.

This happens during all games not named the new playoff or national championship. I just think two days before Christmas is kinda short changing it.

We never had a problem with it.

January bowl games mean you have to bring players on campus during the break ... That costs money, wether it's a big deal or not, still money that doesn't have to be spent if you can crossover when they are still in school.

The whole reason we have athletics is for exposure. This date change reduces exposure and therefore is worse for the schools.

Not if I have a vote, I'd much prefer the Cure Bowl. I was just throwing in my $.02 related to slycat's post.
