You guys smoking crack??? The SEC had a down bowl season, had a team in the playoffs and had the number 1 ranked team most of the season. Had a bad year in basketball, yet still had a team in the finals, just won the softball championship, and still have a chance at baseball. They just split $455 mil dollars among its members. They are the premier athletic conference, I don't care what your personal opinion is, they just are. The UA BoT may be a bunch of pricks, but their athletics are still as high as anyone's.

Academics may be better in the B1G, but c'mon, we aren't talking about academics. 05-nono
Academics only matter in about ten or less conferences.
They don't matter much in the G5 but P5 is a different story.
The Big Ten is number one with all the members in the AAU.
I think the SEC has something like two AAU schools.
Athletic wise the SEC gets the nod for most recent success and B1G for historic success. Both have plenty of either category the BCS era being the SEC's advantage.

Point taken, but a couple of corrections.
B1G: Nebraska was an AAU member but was removed in 2011...The medical school is under a different administration and and Ag research didn't receive enough weight to keep the Huskers in. (They were an AAU member when invited to the B1G and speculation is that they would not have received the invitation without an AAU membership.)

SEC: With Missouri and Texas A&M, the SEC has four AAU members; not two. (It was two before the two universities moved from the Big12 to the SEC.)

I thought C-USA would have sought a replacement.
I went back-and-forth on that one. So much of that drama hinged on one particular person (Watts), whose true intentions and agenda were inscrutable, at best. But throughout the whole episode, I always thought that even if UAB was forced to withdraw from C-USA, the league would probably have stood pat at 13 for a couple of more years, at least. The chances of C-USA taking another Sun Belt member were never greater than 10-20%, IMHO. Now that UAB is staying, the chances of course are zero.

Quote:And I thought the BigXII would have expanded adding further unpredictable moves.
The idea of the Big <XII expanding has been the great red herring of countless expansion threads ever since TCU and WVU agreed to join the league in October 2011. The league has done nothing since then, and the simple fact is, it has very little financial incentive to expand, and No incentive to expand if it is allowed to have a football Championship Game with 10 members, which is probably going to happen in the next few years.

Quote:A period of calm?
Or is there a surprise external move waiting this year?
Period of calm.

Florida
Missouri
Texas A&M
Vanderbilt

Univ. of Georgia will be added to that list in the next decade, IMHO.
