Or maybe he wins...

No disrespect to Ellison but he's a RB.

hmm... could have sworn he is listed as a QB.

it's funny...

nobody seemed to call auburn's offense gimmicky when they played in the NC game a couple years back.

It's not a gimmick. And neither is Georgia Southern's offense. They are systems, like Troy's that are used to take advantage of teams with more talent by creating schemes that are hard to follow. That's not to say GS doesn't have talent.

Consider Troy. Almost all 15 of Troy's current NFL players are defensive players, even though Troy's offense has been phenomenal over the last ten years, and the defense has only had a few good years during that time. Troy has some offensive talent on the roster, but not like we used to have. I can say though, that Neal's schemes will make up for some of the deficit in talent. Systems are what they are, and Georgia Southern is no different.

Ellison & System are 1st Team QB. It does not mean he has the all around best skill set. It simply means he will (could) produce the best numbers based on his skill set within his own team and at least in that right deserves to be called #1.

I think that's cause they passed more (wasn't that the year Cam Newton was the QB?) than you guys did.

Now, before anyone tells me how wrong I am... That is PURELY off of memory and you guys could have 10 times the passing attempts/yards/TD's than Auburn. But I seem to recall folks hyping Newton because he was the do everything QB.

I don't think even Georgia Southern fans would say that your guy is a do everything type. He runs GREAT and passes ok. That's more than enough to win and give him preseason first team nods. I gots no problem with that.

they attempted 80 more passes total that season than we did last season..

We will pass more this season. Fritz stuck with more running because that is what he was transitioning from.

He's probably talking about 2013 (Nick Marshall) and not 2010 (Cam Newton).

Same guy calling plays. Same offense.

and not to mention, look at some of the games we were in. Idaho, Troy, Ga State, Savannah State. We didn't pass because we didn't need to in a lot of games. When you are up by 3 scores, and the other team can't stop the run.... why pass?

In the Georgia Tech game, we got behind, and used the pass masterfully to come from behind.

Archaic offense, RB disguised as a QB, FCS players...and despite all that...

that's laughable 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

If J-Maul stays healthy, he will lead the league in receiving yards.

I can see why he was picked 3rd team. Uncertainty regarding the season ending injury last year, along with a "new" QB. It's nice to be under the radar sometimes.
With the lack of representation of Cajuns on the "4-deep" preseason team, we will be lucky to win 6 games. 05-stirthepot

on the flip side, Ga State should win 8. lol

Nice! Pretty Funny!

But seriously Jamal is the best WR in the conference and will playing in a better league after next season. It doesn't take much research to figure that out.

Kinda surprised that Joel was picked to first team (I'm happy he did) but he faltered later in the year after a huge first quarter or so. I'm glad Joe Pete got put on first team, he deserves it, even with an awful supporting cast. Just the thing that upsets me the most is that Arbuckle didn't make a single team

I sure hope Robinson stays healthy, both for the team and for his future. He's a game-changer.

It's Phil Steele. Don't be in such a dither. Wait for the coaches poll. it will probably be more to our way of thinking. Doesn't say that's going to be right. Mager was 2nd team last year and was a 5th round draft pick.

They're all, mostly, a crap shoot until the season is played.
