Anderson at stAte had more talent to work with, and a much stronger foundation of winning was already set. Troy has a few more hurdles to get over than Anderson/stAte.

Exactly how big are your hurdles? We started last year with less than 50 scholarship players because of kids that left during all the coaching changes.

There was a Higher talent level among our top players overall, but by the end of the year, we had nothing more than the average Sun Belt School.

Looking a the 2-deep from the spring, we're in decent shape. It's more of a re-emphasis of winning the program needs. The attitude and body language aren't what I've grown to expect. With Neal Brown having coached at Troy during a similar time, should add another layer of understanding for the program.

Harsh words for a freshman. How many freshman do you know start their freshman year? He was 2nd team during the spring game last month and would have been a sophomore in '15.

2nd team on a big time BCS program can't be labeled a "bust". I'm not saying he's a great player, but he's not chopped liver. 2nd team at Auburn is likely 1st team at any school in the SBC with the exception of one or two. He'll provide quality depth if nothing else.

He took a medical redshirt in '13 and played a few games in '14 as a R-Fr. He will be a sophomore this year but will have to sit out a year.

Decent chance he'll be better than HUD. Mark is probably the 4th best coach in this conference. He can turn a program around, but he hasn't shown that he can improve any from his first season at ULL.

Neal Brown likely won't win 8 or 9 games in year one. I'm thinking 5 or 6. But his system and assistants could eventually take this program to nine wins. On "paper" Neal & Co. have some impressive resumes. Neal could be a bust as a brand new head coach, though. We'll just have to wait and see.

Setting the bar kind of low aren't you? You are basically resigning Troy to the Camelia Bowl every year with one shared league title if they are lucky.

Of course, they'd probably take that in a heart beat...given their league position currently.

Can Troy get 54K to the Camellia? Hell, can they get 34K to the Camellia? Can stAte get 54K to Mobile?

Problem is, the games he has played in, including spring game, he has zero tackles. Also, not like he was playing on a great defensive team, so he was down the depth chart on a bad defensive unit. That counts for something too. Hopefully I'm wrong, there is nothing more that I want then success for these kids that entertain us.

I'm not disagreeing completely. There are some good points there. But the SBC doesn't have Ricardo Louis or D'haquille Williams (JC#1), or SEC talent. He was 2nd team on Will Muschamps unit, not Ellis Johnson. I'm not saying he won't be a bust, but who in the SBC can stop D'haquille Williams?

Ellis Johnson's defensive staff at Auburn was recently poached by ULL, fans whose claim they are world beater coaches. Louisiana fans say the problem was Ellis Johnson and not a talent problem. How much of that is true? I don't know.

He'll provide quality depth if nothing else.

We'll have to see...let me rephrase the question for you: could the Cajuns? But, hey...y'all can reset your NCAA record if you win another NO Bowl 04-bow

Seeing how camellia only seats 25k.... I'm
Gonna say no

We had over 30k in attendance for GMAC in 2009. Mobile is 2 hours from Troy.

But we also
Don't have a large fan base.

We are incredibly thin in certain areas. We play three safeties, but only have four on scholarship and three walkons. We're adding three or four scholarship freshmen, but how well do you expect true freshmen to play? We do add the JUCO All-American at spear though, so there's that. We're still pretty thin there and at D-Line, who beyond Roberts and Gosha, most are unproven.

O-Line has some talent, but some new faces need to step up. RB and WR are pretty stacked, in my opinion. Brandon Silvers is the best QB in the SBC statistically, but can he repeat those stats in an offense that does more than just screens? Lots of question marks.

A large chunk of our guys only had offers from Troy with no offers from FCS schools. We've got some guys up top that are going to make a lot of noise, but we've also got guys that belong on a D-II or FCS roster. That's a bit harsh, but the only way to describe the glaring hole between our top guys and our bottom guys. We don't have much of a middle class right now.

Z, the Cajuns couldn't send 54K to Montgomery and Mobile. You see, the stadiums don't hold that many people.

I didn't say anything about incoming players, I'm referring to the spring depth chart. I also don't worry so much about all offers for all players...There haven't been very many seasons that Troy has had quality depth going and coming, but I'm pretty sure Troy will field an FB$ program in the fall.

There were quite a few naysayers when Tony Franklin stepped foot on campus with an offense full of pro-style personnel, but I feel Coach Brown has been down this road before and can handle the task at hand.
