You do realize our new coach was at Troy from 2006-2009 right? He was our OC from 2008-2009 and had a top 4 offense nationally at Troy.
He has went on to have 4 top 15 offense at Texas Tech since Troy and has had the nations fastest temp offenses much of that time.
I'll post a clip on what he does in just a few minutes.

Seriously, we need a chance to catch our breaths at UL. A sterling football season, culminating in another NOBowl victory. Tremendous success in men's and women's basket ball. Softball and baseball once again proved to be stellar. We are fatigued. Give us 6 weeks.

Z...just wondering...do you think UL will ever win an outright SBC football championship?

Do you think stAte will ever win anything again? Or will you tout 2012 football season forever?

A: We are strong at RB and WR. QB Brandon Silvers is #1 "statistically" in the Sun Belt in terms of TD/INT ratio and completion percentage. But our system was reduced to screens and short pass plays. We were very slow in terms of tempo and only passed 28 times per game (42 when he Neal Brown was here before). No telling if he'll be good or not in a much more demanding offense. He was ESPN's #27 rated QB recruit in 2012 for what it's worth. O-Line is weak, but we have a phenomenal O-Line coach, so who knows. Not expecting to crush everyone in year one. Line backers are extremely deep and talented, D-Line is thin with FCS talent with the exception of two in my opinion. Safeties are talented, but thin. Corners should be very good. All in all, we don't have all the pieces yet.
B: See above. Neal Brown spoke at Dothan Rotary last week and said that this year will lean heavily on our running backs, at least early on. By the end of the year we should be better in the passing game. Weakness will be defense up front.
C: Air Raid on offense. He has been #1 nationally in plays per game (tempo) and has stated public ally that that is his goal for Troy. Defense is a multiple 4-2-5 with nomenclature such as "the bandit" "the spear" and "the scat" positions.

after the last couple of years, its hard to believe the new staff will be able to turn it around in their first season, if Troy can finish with a 500 record in the SBC, that would be a great season, having said that, there is enough talent on the roster that if any of the top 4 teams with Troy on their schedule looks past them, Troy could pull the upset and ruin their season, glad my Mountaineers have them at home.

It can be done. ULL went 3-9 in 2010 then turned around and had a 9 win season the very next year.
Troy isnt far off talent wise to pull a 8 win season off. Having said that I think we will finish around the 5-7 or 6-6 mark.

I'm thinking 5-7 or 6-6 for Troy. We have an FCS team at home (not an auto-win by any means), and "should" beat Georgia State, New Mexico State, and Idaho. A win over USA or ULM would give Troy a 5-7 season and move us in the right direction. Obviously, win both for 6-6.
Not seeing wins over App, Arkansas State, or Louisiana; but of the three the Cajuns are the most vulnerable, especially in late November, early December.

I agree....Hoping we get that ULM monkey off our backs...USA may take a step back this season with only 5 starters returning, Seeing how they did not blow Troy out the water last year like other teams did we may get this win at home early in the season.

I doubt you see a loss to stAte either...we don't play.

I know. Brainfart. Someone mentioned wins over Top 3 or 4 and those came to mind. Insert Georgia Southern in that spot.

Troy will be a tough game.
I actually would not be surprised to lose to GaSt this year, too. They are going to win some games this year.

We say that about Ga State every year....But there does have to come a point in time where they will beat someone.
I dont think they have the right coaches to do so consistently or very often at all.
(This post was last modified: 05-25-2015 04:44 PM by Atlanta Trojan.)
Well, they could have (and may very well should have) beaten us last year when Bridge was on one of his derp-fests and all we really had was the ground game for consistency.
They were able to hold it in check better than most teams. This tells me their line is making strides and a lot of their supporting cast is in place to be a genuine threat.
Seriously would not be surprised to see them finish middle-of-the-pack or higher, but they could just be same ol' same ol'.
GaSt is a shot I'm not willing to call. They remind me a lot of 2012 USA.
