Lehigh beat Duke against all odds a couple years ago in the NCAA men's bball tournament. Perhaps they can do something similar here...

That 0-0 record against the Top 50 (and 0-2 against Top 100) means they're ill-prepared for the level of baseball they'll be facing this weekend.

Yes, it's a different sport, but that 2012 Lehigh basketball team had at least played tough against Iowa St. and Michigan St. the year they knocked off Duke, keeping both of those games in single digits. Not to mention they beat a 25-win Wagner team on the road. They were also completely dominant in conference play, going 11-3 and splitting the season series with perennial favorite Bucknell. They ended up finishing 87th in the RPI. Basically they were no slouch and probably shouldn't have been a 15-seed to begin with.

As for this 2015 baseball squad, Lehigh was dominated in their only 2 games against an opponent that ended up in the Regionals. This happened this past week when, for some reason, they faced Columbia for 2 games AFTER their league tournament. They lost the two games 14-3 and 8-3.

Lehigh also failed to really put the hurting on conference foes either. 12-8 is respectable but not anything special. The only thing you can say about them is they beat Holy Cross (the only top-200 RPI team in the league) 5 times in their 7 meetings over the course of the season.

In short, Lehigh doing anything beyond getting blown out in 2 games would require an act of providence.

Sorry to burst that bubble CoastGuard. I hope they prove me wrong too. But this Lehigh team looks a lot like the Sacred Heart team (from the NEC) that was the 4-seed in our Raleigh Regional 3 years ago. They lost 16-5 to NC State then we beat them 13-4 in an elimination game. They were 221st in the RPI, similar to this Lehigh team, in 2012.

Hey, quite alright. You're the stats guru, not me.

In other news, I'll be paying attention this weekend and then after that I'm gonna be quite busy. I'm transferring to VA, so I will only be on here sparingly. I use the app, so I'll still be able to check in on the road a little here and there as well.

LSU will emasculate Lehigh. It will be over quickly. LSU by 2 touchdowns.

Tulane has some very, very good ams but have zero hitters. No one to fear 1-9. Their 3rd baseman and SS have sick gloves that can take base hits away. Tulane hasn't gotten the type of studs that they used to since Katrina, I kid you not.

True. But we were throwing Freshman Justin Crump in that game. He only lasted 3 innings, then Austin Magestro followed him up with one of his worst outings of the season.

Tulane may well be throwing the same starter they used against us (Duester), but on our side of the coin, I have confidence in Ryan Foster to give us a quality start.

We also won't be lacking Corey Dick or Gavin Stupiensky, who weren't in the lineup when we faced Tulane last time around. It's hard to imagine that game back in March translating much to Friday night's matchup.
