Winning Ways leadership conference
For those of you out there in the work force, this looks to be a pretty unique opportunity to hear from highly successful folks in and out of athletics.
I specifically like the touch of bringing in Todd Stansbury, though I do hope someone slaps him across the face for hiring Barbie Breedlove on his way out the door.

The price probably had to be high to pay the people that are showing up. Having said that, I am not sure there is much of a market in this area for a $185 per ticket leadership event. I hope it goes well though.

Well you're not going to listen to your local car dealer or restaurant owner talk about how they've "made it big" in Bristol. Highly successful leaders in athletics along with a former congressman, it's worth the 185 a ticket.
If you want to ETSU to do more and be more, it costs money. It can't be a flea market attitude.

Flea market attitude? Ouch.

Regardless of the price, the event is in a hotel in Johnson City, Tennessee. TED talks are free and feature world-class leaders. The library has books free to borrow written by leaders from the past centuries. I don't think it has anything to do with a poverty mentality for me to question the price tag of listening to Phil Fulmer talk. Love me some Phil, but that price is a bit much. To be fair the event will sell out, and it will all be corporate money.

What if I told you the event was not about leadership, but about revenue generation? But what do I know? I never attended law school.

It's clearly corporate, revenue driven, and publicity minded (if not oriented). And it would be great for a young professional to list on the CV. I'd love to attend, but my company probably won't pay for it. Maybe I'll appeal to CBAT at ETSU to pay for a table for business students. It also sounds like a great event for locally rooted organizations, especially any with existing sponsorship involvement with ETSU athletics.
