NCAA APR Public Recognition Awards
Congrats to the W&M teams that made this year's NCAA list for top 10% in their sport for academic progress rate scores (2010-2014): field hockey, men’s basketball, men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s golf, women’s swimming and diving.

Tribe had most in state with six.

Have to give credit where it's due to Shaka Smart for men's b-ball being the only VCU team to get the recognition, and the only other men's basketball team in the state.

Dartmouth was the leader for the fourth year in a row with 26 teams; with Brown, Bucknell, and Stanford coming in second with 19 each.

For those who want to search the data base:

Looks like Elon had the most in the CAA with eight.

Begs the question, why we don't fare as well as most other academic elite schools we would consider ourselves on par with? We would be last among Ivy schools. Well behind Davidson, Northwestern, Duke....

Men's XC is the lowest? Go figure.

I am just guessing but I suspect that W&M has higher standards and tougher grading than lots of other schools, including schools considered to be academically elite.

RE: NCAA APR Public Recognition Awards
If the APR only applies to srudent-athletes receiving financial assistance (scholarships), how are our non-scholarship athletes (XC) even relevant to this?

Enlighten me.

While it may not be fully allocated, there are XC athletes on scholarship
