I like the fresh start approach. It's also not terrible that because we played so well last year that "teams aren't dying to come to Wilmington". It seems Coach really has us going in a positive direction.

I might be in the minority and maybe it's because I'm not local anymore so I don't have as much to lose, but I really kind of liked the early season road schedule. There's no denying that playing that tough schedule on the road combined with buying into Coach's system really helped our guys. Who knows though, maybe that won't be necessary next year as players have more time with Coach and are able to develop without having to do so on the fly.

Locally, last year's schedule was not so great because we had so few home games until the conference season began. And most of the home games we had pre-conference took place during the break when few students were on campus. Can't deny that it worked out well for the team though!

We need at least one or 2 pre conference non holiday home games against d1 opponents. Once the students go home for Christmas hit the road.

I hope the days of playing DII teams are behind us.

Unfortunately, when posed a question about this very topic last year at one of the coach's shows, Keatts said that they will keep a lower division opponent on the schedule for the foreseeable future. Something about the league allowing for one, but needing permission for more than one.

Great to see we're trying to keep the ECU & Campbell rivalries in tact. Would love to see the addition of more regional home & home series.

Interested to know what the reasoning would be to keep a DII team on the schedule?

I assume:
- it's a win
- gets a lot of guys some pt
- it's a home game
- everyone's doing it

I cant stand those d2 games. We already get 2 preseason games for non d1 competition we don't need a 3rd.

I'd rather go play a **** local D1 team at their place.

Almost no one counts the DII games at all in the W-L category. For NCAA/RPI purposes it's just a mid-season exhibition game. So the "win" helps you not all.

I don't know of any fans who are particularly proud of beating up on a lower division undersized team.

And everyone is NOT doing it.

They dont count in any official means other than allowing a school to claim an extra win. I bet they count towards a coaches contractual incentive too

Don't get me wrong, I'm with you.

Looked at the schedule from last year. 5/10 CAA teams played at least 1 non D1 school last year (Elon & W&M played 2). Drexel, of course, losing theirs...

The conference should nip this in the bud...but that wont happen of everyone is doing it

08- Couldn't agree more. He saw what we put together last year, what's coming in and what he lost for players. The combo is them wanting no part of us!

It's completely transparent. "Hey, since we have that 2nd year of an agreement with UNCW, let's bring in 2 teams with vague ties to us who are both from the same conference. That way, D-I rules will take care of it so we can avoid the team that gave us all we could handle PRIOR to an influx of 8 new talented players."

There is no rule that teams in the same conference can't play non conference.
They just don't want to play us
