Pac-12 Bowl Game---Should Aresco Be Jumping On This?
Interesting concept. An Australia Bowl would suck for the fans. However, the bowl as proposed, is a zero cost all expenses paid proposition with no pay out. The conference gets no money, but also has no expenses. All we would get is an additional bowl against a power conference opponent.

While the other bowls pay the participating school or conference between a few hundred thousand to several million dollars for their appearance, the Australia bowl would not pay the schools or conferences any money. However, it would cover all expenses instead. Sergeant also said his bowl would not require ticket commitments from each school.

"The key element is there's no risk for the conference or the teams," Sergeant said.

Etihad Stadium has a capacity of about 53,000, but Sergeant said he's not expecting a large amount of fans from either school. The game most likely would be played between Dec. 20 and Dec. 30.

"We would expect visiting fans (from the United States) in the hundreds, not the thousands," Sergeant said. "We're basing having a capacity crowd on the domestic market."

This is a good place to send SMU or Tulane if they get to six wins.

Neither team has a ton of sidewalk fans that will fill up a big ticket allotment stateside.

Both teams are more "TV product" than "live product".

The PAC won't mind playing a team with good "academics".

Both teams have some rich alumni that would use this as a GREAT excuse for a vacation.

Yeah---I kinda view this as the Hawaii Bowl with a better opponent. As our primary bowl goal seems to be getting bowls with P5 opponents---this would seem to be one we would be interested in. Add this one, and the Cure gets filled behind this one. That said, this on requires passports---so its going to be a huge pain in the butt for whoever goes. The reality is we probably have too many bowls at this point---so Im going to guess we are just SOL on this one.

Going all the way out to Australia would be a challenge but the mwc and pac-12 could do it. Aac can't as we're also on the other side of the country. We'd be better served going to Brazil or spain.

It's a long way to Australia from the USA regardless of where in the US you start. I don't think it matters. None of your fans are going. For the schools involved-- is a great TV game vs a P5 school and a memorable trip for the teams. For the teams fans---it's expensive and few will make the trip.

Two secrets about Australia.

1, Everything bites or stings.

2, Almost everything is poisonous.

Just thought I'd share. 04-cheers

The New Orleans Bowl featuring the Green Wave against the Cajuns drew 54,728 fans. That's not exactly chopped liver.
