OT - E60: Behind the Curtain; WWE's Developmental Brand NXT (Orlando)
Anyone watch this last night?

It followed the story of 3 wrestlers and their rise through WWE's developmental system (NXT) in Orlando. Seeing the humans (and stories) behind the characters, particularly Ray Leppan aka Leo Krueger aka Adam Rose was really moving. Seeing him struggling for his kid (who is disabled), as a 35 year old on his last leg in the business, and then having to reinvent his character, knowing that if he fails, he's most likely going to be cut, was absolutely gut wrenching.

It's worth a watch, even if you aren't a wrestling fan. I think it'll replay next Wednesday.

For whatever reason the I4 corridor from Orlando to Tampa seems to be where all the wrestlers live and train

The Performance Center is in Orlando, and they do the tapings for NXT at Full Sail.

They (the developmental wrestlers) are awesome, and it is a widely held opinion that their shows are now better than the main roster's flagship shows (Raw and Smackdown), despite making a fraction of the wages. For example, John Cena is worth around $40 million. The average NXT contract is around $40k/year.

Can't say I have watch wrasslin' in awhile, but I did catch the documentary on Jake "the snake" Roberts a few years back. Wow, that was sad.

I will have to check it the show, thx.

Jake Roberts has cleaned himself up and seems to be doing much better these days.
