A good chunk of this goes to athletics.

That's very impressive, congrats to you and your class! Do you know if the funds earmarked for athletics were directed at a certain program or project? Or just to the general athletics fund?

Yes & yes but no specifics.

People could give funds in any way they wished.

So that 20 million isn't going straight into the new Lax program?

Does any of this $20 million show up in gifts that have already been announced, or is this all new money?

The old class record for a 50th was 9.3 million, so 20+ is really impressive.

Of course, the classes started to get larger around 1963. Up until then W&M had around 1650 undergraduates with about 400 in a graduating class.

Fifty years from now today's large graduating classes of around 1500 should routinely top twenty million.

With inflation and what not, they'd better be topping a lot more than 20 million.

Class of 65 started with around 590 (89 now deceased).

I forgot how many actually graduated, so we were well under 500.

So I hope you are correct that future classes will easily get past $20M.

President Reveley has stated more than once that if each grad gave $25 each year we would be in great shape.

Until this year most years were in the 20-30% giving range.

I might be mistaken, but I think the 52% donor rate was also a record for an entering Olde Guarde class (50th year). So even accounting for class size this was an outstanding achievement.
