Last time we played them the first game of the season, over 100 degrees in the stands, our players were not conditioned for that kind of heat, plus it was miserable for our fans, my understanding is it kinda became a dangerous health situation for fans and players alike. If I'm App I would insist that atleast one of the two games is played later in the season where the temp is atleast bearable.
That game was miserable for everyone. I don't think anyone is conditioned for that heat. I think 100's of fans were treated for heat exhaustion. Ever since that game we have played at night that early in the year.

App has signed a home and home with Wake. Jim 2 for 1 isn't likely. 1-1-1 could happen with CLT as the neutral site.

I think a 2:1 is the only way it would happen

So you expect a better deal than Wake? When did you join the SEC?
You can pretend App is still FCS, doesn't make it true.
We brought more fans than any non-P5 program to your stadium the last two times we played. This time you won't have to pay us.

When we started averaging twice as many fans as Wake.

ECU vs App State in the new Cure Bowl?
(05-05-2015 04:03 PM)BullsFanInTX Wrote: Supposedly the Austin bowl was going to be AAC vs. CUSA, but these projections have Sun Belt in game. Has anyone heard anything about some type of Sun Belt tie in here? Little confused as to why they don't show CUSA in this game.
They probably figure CUSA won't fulfill their bowl spots and will leave this bowl wanting. Although I don't see CUSA doing that to this bowl in its first game. There are 2 Texas bowls and 4 Texas teams + LaTech which would most likely go bowling in Texas. So I don't see that bowl being short a CUSA team.
EDIT: scratch everything I said above if what is said in the other thread (McMurphy one) is true about us being tied into Austin

Guess we'll just "settle" and play Wake...
Why wasn't the Marshall series a 2 for 1?

When we started averaging ALMOST twice as many fans as Wake. I helped you out a little bit there. As a matter of fact, ECU didn't average twice as many fans as App did during their last 7 seasons in FCS during the regular season. Our average for the regular season for those 7 years was 27,454. As far as the Sec goes, five schools do not average twice as many as ECU. Based on 2014 attendance the rest of the Sec averages more than twice as many or almost twice as many fans.

We have more recent history with Marshall. Our history with App St has to go all the way back to the 70's when we were in the southern conference. Marshall and ECU were actually in the same conference 2 seasons ago. BTW I don't care for playing Marshall OOC.

RE: ECU vs App State in the new Cure Bowl?
to me, we really haven't earned the right to demand a home and home with ECU, they have become a solid, FBS program that goes to a bowl almost every year, and have beaten a lot more established FBS programs than us, 2 for 1 seems right at this time. Now, the good news is our recruiting classes the last 2 or 3 years areclosing the gap between the talents of the two programs, if we keep progressing, I think we will be on par with ECU's talent, across the board, in 2 or 3 years.

Not to mention that the proximity to wake, and the amount of fans you guys would bring to wake would be much great than that to ECU. And ECU doesn't have an attendance problem like Wake. Wake needs that bump, which is probably a big reason for the H&H

Using ODU as one example, do you think that they have earned the right to demand a home and home with NC State? If so, what do you think makes their situation any different than ours with ECU?

The Tidewater recruiting grounds. We're fortunate in that aspect.

Find me one G5 program that signed a 2 for 1 deal with another G5 program. We aren't going to set that precedent.

mturn017 is right, the tidewater recruiting area created a situation where State was willing to give ODU a home and home so they could use the ODU game as a recruiting trip, if ODU wasn't located in the tidewater area, there would be no way State would give them a home and home.

Yeah, we asked to have our game with them this year moved to Fri Night to be on TV and they declined b/c they want their recruits in the area to be able to attend

Nope. Two game series, 2014 at Ark St., 2016 at Utah St.
