Good food in Lafayette

Plate lunch.......Dwyers Café

A serious meal....Riverside Inn or any of the zillion other spots around town.

Plate lunch at Dwyer's is the most bang for the buck. My brother law looks like he could be an offensive lineman, and he can't finish that thing.
Riverside is always a solid bet for a casual sit-down type of meal. There are really too many places to list. Good thing about Lafayette is that if a place is absolute crap, it most likely won't stay open for long. So any local place that has been around for a few years is probably a sure fire bet.

My favorite place to grab a good steak, which I'm currently craving, Mazen Grill. Almost everything they serve there is excellent.

I've long said that if I could cook like they do at Dwyers you'd see me on the TV one day, breaking down the wall to haul me out with a forklift. The roast pork plate lunch with egg plant dressing is just unbeatable.

Riverside? The fried flounder dinner.

The poboys mentioned above at the grocery store by campus are legit. Hopefully you made that call. For dinner, I prefer Blue Dog.

Old Tyme does do a good poboy, no doubt. I also like the fried shrimp poboy from Chris's as well as their roast beast.

And for some Riverside "light" fare, I've always appreciated the House Salad. It's funny, but this is the one place I've always struggled to finish the house salad.

I'd have to wash that salad down with a seafood gumbo. Man, they know what they're doing at Riverside. CA, have you been around long enough to have dined at Riverside when it sat where the Hilton sits today?

You messed up on your restaurant choice in Lake Charles. Should have eaten at Darrells and got a sub sandwich. For Lafayette area its Prejeans for the tourist choice or Old Tyme Grocery. Breaux Bridge area is your best bet for awesome food, there I suggest Cafe Des Amis or Poche Market.

I would go with Abbeville over BB for food outside of Lafayette. Especially once Riverfront reopens.
Cafe Des Amis is a cool experience though.
I was never crazy about Prejean's as I felt it was sort of a tourist trap, but I've heard they have taken steps lately to really improve their product.

Seafood Palace is one of the few restaurants we frequent when we do work in Lake Chuck. Don't let the fact that it's in LC fool you, it's a good spot to eat.
We also like to eat at Luna's when we're there.

Met a Louisiana grad while working. He graduated a couple years ago. Had no clue TXST was in the conference. Made me sad. He did follow the team though to some extent and talked some about blowing chances to win conference outright and losing to Florida.

sly, if you're ever in the area again, I can point you in the direction of some killer threads on our fan site Ragin Pagin that discuss food places in Lafayette. I'm sure we'll have a food thread or two once mid-June rolls around.
