Which ex-players of yours might get drafted this weekend?
Nice write-up on Zo Harris. Hope he makes the cut.

Quote:“I got a pretty good vibe from (the scouts). They told me not to go home and get out of shape. … Some of them were talking about if you come in to camp out of shape, you’re behind the 8-ball already.”

So Harris has been staying ready, which is probably a good thing considering some of pre-draft buzz about him – especially after he reeled of an impressive 10 foot, 7-inch broad jump on Pro Day.

“Harris is described as having really good feet and being a very explosive runner,” former longtime Dallas Cowboys vice president of player personnel Gil Brandt wrote for NFL.com. “Harris is a likely priority free-agent pickup for a team following the draft and has a good chance to make an NFL roster, perhaps at first as a practice squad player.”

Wrote Jordan Raanan for NJ.com, a New Jersey media website that covers the New York Giants: “This is a really good draft for running backs, all the way from the first through the later rounds. And with Rashad Jennings’ injury history and the Giants’ ability to get out of (his) contract after this season, there’s room on the roster if the value is too good to pass up. More than likely though, it wouldn't be any more than a mid-to-late-round pick. Keep an eye on USC’s Buck Allen and Louisiana Lafayette’s Alonzo Harris.”

Under the headline of “Top potential undrafted free agents,” longtime NFL writer Don Banks offers effusive praise for Harris on Sports Illustrated’s website, SI.com.

“As bigger running backs go,” Banks wrote, “Harris is one of more interesting blank slates in this year’s draft pool.

“At (6-1), 235 pounds, he runs with a bruising, power-back style, and there’s some who could envision a poor man’s LeGarrette Blount with another 10 pounds of muscle added to his frame in the NFL.

“Bulk up a little bit more than that,” Banks added, “and Harris might just craft himself a long pro career at the fullback position, which still has a few NFL proponents. … He projects as an undrafted free agent who might be able to make a team as a short-yardage specialist.”

Harris produced 3,330 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns on the ground during a four-year career in UL in which the Cajuns went 9-4 and won the New Orleans Bowl all four seasons.

For the Jags, it's Wes Saxton and Brandon Bridge. Yes, Brandon Bridge. Both are being projected mostly 5th to 7th round but I've see Saxton as high as 3rd round.

OT Lamm is the only one for us, but only one other starter is leaving so...

The only sure thing for TXST is Mager, and the mocks have him going anywhere from 4th to 7th. Hopefully Orakpo, Mayo, and Johnson get drafted as well but if not they will definitely be picked up as UDFAs. Micheal Odiari might be a UDFA as well but we'll see.

The Red Wolves' streak is likely to end this year. We had a very small group of seniors and not all of them were even contributors. Q. Lee was one of the best LBs to play in the SBC but he doesn't have what pro scouts are looking for in height and body type.

Garrett Frye and Edwin Jackson are the only 2 I could see being drafted or going UDFA, from Georgia Southern.

I'm not sure about that - I believe I heard Mel Kiper Jr say stAte has the most football talent on its roster out of any team in the history of the Sun Belt Conference, at some point last year?

Maybe it wasn't Mel Kiper Jr. on second thought?

ULM's Justin Manton might just be the only kicker drafted this year and there's no guarantee of that. He's the top rated kicker this year according to NFL scouts and three teams are very interested in him. QB Pete Thomas will certainly get a chance but I doubt he gets drafted. OL Joseph Treadwell is also a possibility but will likely go the free agent route.

If you're talking about Seminole Indian, it wasn't the most football talent on its roster out of any team in the history of the Sun Belt Conference.....it was out of any team in the history of the world.

Try to keep up.

Well let's see. Bo Wallace is an ex-player of ours. He might get drafted.

I guess you missed the part where Will Johnson was invited to the NFL combine and this thread?
