Cajuns struggle at the plate yet have little trouble dispatching UNO 6-3. Game never seemed to be in question.

Cajuns (29-15) beat UNO (14-30), 6-3. UNO outhit the Cajuns 10-4 but committed 3 errors
The Cajuns RPI is 36 after playing an opponent with a losing record at home. Our SOS increased from 50 to 61. Don't understand why our RPI didn't take a big hit.

Here's to this record going down tonight
Quote:The longest college baseball game was played between Texas and Boston College on May 30, 2009, in a regional NCAA Division I Baseball Championship tournament game at Austin, Texas. Texas won the game, 3-2, in 25 innings as the visiting team under NCAA tournament rules on home-team declaration during a tournament. The game lasted seven hours three minutes.

RPI too high? This sounds like a job for App State.

The Cajuns' actual RPI (as well as OWP) did take a hit tonight after playing UNO. Cajun opponents buffeted some the impact of UNO tonight. The rankings (RPI ranking or SOS ranking) depends on how others' RPI and SOS fare.
The Cajuns had an RPI of .56588 entering the week … it is now .56278.

At this point we just need to make it home in time for the Georgia Southern game.

the wheels have not only come off the bus but have rolled down the hill and into the creek. I did not think we would be this bad this year. as a guy who has played ball for over 30 years, it seems to me like the players are just mailing it in right now like they would on a team that is pissed at the coach. I hope we can stop the skid and finish the rest of the season on an upswing.
I feel your pain, but please keep to your present course, at least until after your series with us . . . .
you guys are also not having as good a season as I thought you would. must be the goofy weather this year..

I think we had a combo of things go wrong that set us up for the fall. One is not having Harrington. Honestly, in spite of our yearly questioning, he knows what he's doing. To that I'll add Fikac mismanaging. We have a ton of young guys and he insisted on playing them to the teams' detriment. You let the older guys play and they would have picked up after a few games and been consistent. Instead, they rode the pine in favor of a bunch of freshman who, despite having played this many games, still can't get it done.

Ragin' Cajuns vs Mountaineers Preview. 5/1-5/3
STARTING PITCHERS
Friday: LHP Gunner Leger (UL) vs. RHP Taylor Thurber (APP)
Saturday: RHP Evan Guillory (UL) vs. RHP Travis Holden (APP)
Sunday: RHP Wyatt Marks (UL) vs. LHP Jeffrey Springs (APP)
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team will look to increase upon its season-high seven-game win streak this weekend as the Cajuns go on the road for a three-game series against Appalachian State at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium.
The two teams open the series on Friday at 5 p.m. CT. Game two is slated for 1 p.m. CT, while first pitch of the series finale has been moved up to 11 a.m. CT due to travel arrangements.

The Cajuns (29-15, 13-7 Sun Belt) are coming off of a 6-3 win over New Orleans on Wednesday. Louisiana has a four-game win streak in league play after sweeping UT Arlington at home last weekend.
The Ragin' Cajuns are tied for first in the Sun Belt in batting average (.280) and second in ERA (3.42). The squad sits in fourth place in the SBC and is percentage points back of Georgia State for first in the conference standings.
Louisiana will go with the all-true freshman rotation of left-hander Gunner Leger (5-2, 3.23 ERA) along with right-handers Evan Guillory (3-0, 4.03 ERA) and Wyatt Marks (5-0, 2.88 ERA) for the third straight weekend.
Junior All-American Blake Trahan has led the team in average for most of the season as he is hitting .365 with 13 doubles, 23 RBI and 36 runs. Stefan Trosclair leads the team in both home runs (10) and RBI (30) while hitting .331.
_________________________________________________________________________________________
This is the first meeting between the Ragin' Cajuns and Mountaineers in program history
App State (13-33, 5-18 Sun Belt) has lost eight of their last 10 contests coming into the series including the last three after falling to Virginia Tech 13-4 and ETSU 10-4 in the mid-week.
The Mountaineers have only won one weekend series on the year coming in Sun Belt play against ULM. Michael Pierson leads an ASU team that is hitting .260 on the year with a .337 average to go with nine doubles, seven home runs and a team-best 36 RBI. Dillon Dobson paces the club in extra base hits with a team-best 12 doubles, two triples and 10 homers.
Appalachian State will counter with senior right-hander Taylor Thurber (3-8, 2.52 ERA) on Friday, freshman right-hander Travis Holden (0-3, 5.40 ERA) on Saturday and senior left-hander Jeffrey Springs (3-1, 4.19 ERA) on Sunday.
