I don't think you guys forgot to play the games as much as it was you guys not being as talented and well coached as advertised. Hudspeth is a good coach but he has never struck me as a great coach. If you can get past 8 regular season wins I would probably change my mind. Defense has been Louisiana's achilles heel for a while now, but you guys have hired a great defensive staff that is better than most people think.
Not having Broadway will be a big hurdle getting to 9 wins. Some Cajun fans argue it was he who lost important games for Louisiana and thus addition by subtraction, but do you have a QB that can be as good as the 4-Star transfer from Houston? Remains to be seen. Doubt you'll end up like the warhawks though.

RE: SunBelt's Top 2 RBs make the list
Broadway had some issues that became more evident after he broke his arm. I am very glad we had him for three years and yes we have some talented quarterbacks, yes that is a plural.
The point is you never can assume your non starting talent is as good or better than your starters.
Defense will be tested. I can tell you without doubt I was happier with third and one than third and seven. Ringo and Hamilton were stoppers.

Last I had heard is that he is not in the top 3. I would expect a red shirt; unless he is athletic enough to contribute somewhere other than QB.

I am more interested in seing how Savion Brown looks in the fall. Killer JC defensive back who should make some noise for Louisiana.

I think redshirt, and if I had to guess Jordan Davis may be the QB by the time conference rolls around.
BTW - I am critical of the SBC alot ... however, this is the best group of running backs that the SBC has had collectively in a long time, if not ever!
The Top 10 Rb's in this conference are really really talented, some even on the P5 level!

IMO Haack will excel, or fail fast. It won't take until conference to know if he is the guy.

Probably correct - with the schedule, we should know really fast.

I put it more in the style of play call with Broadway, they never really asked him to get out of his comfort zone. Our projected starter has a very different comfort zone and skill set that many, including myself, will open things up a bit. However, I agree with you, offense hasn't really been our problem under Hud. We have a lot of help coming on defense, most importantly a philosophy change. If you remember last year we changed at half of our game with Troy. After letting triy drive up and down the field we held you scoreless in the 2nd then held nevada and Fajaro to a field goal. We have a whole new staff that preaches this same philosophy. We will move the ball, our offense will be fine... The difference will be our defense. By the end of the year we had 4 freshman starting.

Just checked it out and he ran for 87 yards against the 'Neers. He was overshadowed a bit by Marcus Cox with 229 that game, so that explains why some don't remember him.
Everyone ran for 200+ on us in the second half of the year once our DL was in ruin with injuries and inexperience.
We play 13 games in a season so we look at them all, not just the last 5 or 6.

I was there. He looked good early and you guys adjusted and we threw the ball at will after the first quarter out of opportunity and necessity due to the aforementioned defensive line issues.

Saying you will win by 17 in Boone is not exactly modest. I won't explain as you will find out soon enough, but we're quite proud of our victories in Boone as they are few and far between.
