Cajuns win the tournament. Neither Georgia Southern nor USA has the pitching depth to win the tournament.

Could anyone elaborate on what sort of pitching depth you expect to see in the tourney-winning team? Is it consistency from the fourth starter? A critical mass of reliable relievers?

EDIT: I also realized I don't even know how many starters a team expects to use in a full tourney. Is five enough? Can you get by on four?

Staying in the winners bracket will be Troy's only legitimate shot at winning the tournament.

I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

If USA is going to beat Georgia Southern, I think this will be the difference. Our pitchers lead the conference in ERA and strikeouts, and Georgia Southern strikes out a lot. Our Friday night pitcher threw 15ks against a really good Georgia State lineup, our Sat and Sunday guys did very well too. GSU scored their only 3 runs of the series via 3 solo home runs.

USA on the other hand lacks power, bad. Against Challenger and those GS pitchers, I don't expect that to change this weekend. Looks to be a very low scoring series.

A big key for us is to cut out the errors. We are dead last in the conference in fielding percentage. At times this year our infield has looked like a middle school squad.

Stats for conference only games would show a better picture

RE: Who's your pick to win the SBC regular season in Baseball
IMO Ga Southern has been fortunate in this sense. They have an absolute stud pitcher who is going to win. All they have to do is split to win a series. USA has the same, except they also have another stud that means on most weekends they will win the series unless they do things to lose it.

There is no clear favorite to win the RSC, none. IMO Ga St will come up short. If South and Ga Southern end up 2nd and third I like the Cajuns in the tournament. If either ends up first I do not like the Cajuns to win.

It's about to be a tough 3 weeks for USA. We have both Georgia Southern and the Cajuns on the road, before returning home to face Troy. We really need a sweep in there, but I don't see that happening. UL and GS are too good to sweep, and I don't even remember the last time there was a sweep in a USA/Troy series.

If our bats are hot, I like our chances. If not, it's going to be a long 3 weeks.
