Softball weekend series 4/24-26
No.2 Oregon run-rules No.9 Cajuns, 8-0 (5)

Oregon pitcher threw a no-hitter, which is amazing with the hitters the Cajuns have.

when Cajun pitcher Jordan Wallace is on, she is one of the best in the Nation. Ever since her shoulder injury, if she starts walking and hitting batters from the start of the game, it won't be a good day for Jordan which we saw today.

In the 2nd inning, she walked the 1st 2 batters and then hit the next one to load the bases with no outs which you can't do against Oregon because they'll make you pay for it since you now have to throw strikes to not walk in runs.

They made her pay by getting 3 consecutive singles to score 5 runs. Then she hit the next batter before she was replaced by Hamilton.

This is where the Cajuns miss their Head Coach, Michael Lotief. He wouldn't have left Jordan in the game struggling that long. He knows if she has her stuff or not. I have no clue why Associate Coach Hubbard didn't pull her earlier when we have 2 other excellent pitchers, 1 was an All-American last year.

Just playing a 3 game series against Oregon will help the Cajuns and Oregon's RPI

A doubleheader is scheduled for tomorrow but there is a big threat for rain, so it will be sad to travel so far for a single game. Next year Oregon comes to Lafayette.

USA and NDSU was a fun game, but we lost. They are a good team and are coming off a win over #10 Minnesota. USA loaded the bases with one out twice in a row but didn't capitalize. The lack of timely hitting was our downfall. They pushed across a few runs late to take the lead and the game, 7-3. Hopefully USA can get in the doubleheader tomorrow despite the chance of rain.

Oregon run-rules the Cajuns 10-2(5)

Cajun pitching can't throw strikes. Alex Stewart who walked 9 all season, walks 7 today

Bobcats sweep the Apps in DH: 6-4, and 4-1. . . . .

. . . . Hope the Apps can afford the fare back to Boone . . . . Belt travel costs are steep . . . .05-stirthepot

USA beat NDSU 7-6 in 8 innings. It was a back and forth battle. That is a good team that should be ranked. And with them going 2-2 this week against two top 25 teams they might be next week. They are close to breaking into the top 25 already.

RE: Softball weekend series 4/24-26
Cajuns blew what looked like a sure win in the 7th to No.2 Oregon, 2-1 in 8 innings

With the Cajuns leading 1-0 going to the bottom of the 7th with Oregon batting. The first batter lines out for the 1st out. Next batter gets a double. Next batter gets on by an error by the Cajun 1st baseman in which the ball goes into right field but Oregon tries to score the runner from 2nd and she was easily thrown out at the plate.

So now there are 2 outs with a runner on first. Just need 1 out and we win but Wallace walks the next batter moving the tying run to 2nd. Then she throws a wild pitch moving the runner to 3rd. The next hitter hits a routine ground ball to 2nd, looks like the game iis over but she mishandled the ball and the runner scores sending the game to extra innings.

So for the Cajuns to not win in the 7th, it took a walk, wild pitch, and 2 errors

It's sad because Jordan Wallace pitched a hell of a game

The games on Wednesday are single elimination. As the 8 seed, you will be playing the 5 seed, which will probably be Georgia State. If you win that one you will play the 4 seed which will likely be either Troy or Texas State. So you will have to win 2 games to get to Day 2.

Because Troy was not able to play the full series against Texas-Arlington, they cannot catch either team for the top 2 spots. Louisiana and South Alabama will be the top 2 seeds.

We need to work on our flight bookings. Softball had to re-enact the scene from Home Alone to make their connector coming back today. This isn't the first App team this season that's happened with.

Sorry, my miss. Texas State can catch South Alabama, but Troy can't. If Troy and Texas State sweep, Texas State would be the 2 seed, South Alabama 3 and Troy 4 due to Texas State winning the series over Troy. All 6 games would have to be played for this to happen.
