MARCUS #3 NUMBER RETIREMENT ANNOUNCED!
The climax to last evening's upbeat annual Basketball Dinner was the announcement to a packed house at Two Rivers of some 300 Tribe supporters by Terry Driscoll that Marcus Thornton's #3 will be retired sometime next season.

Announcement drew loud cheers and a standing ovation.

It was a great gathering last night with farewell comments from the seniors and the team manager and team-voted awards to many of our guys.

A spectacular fifteen minute video review of the season brought repeated
cheers from the crowd. Dan Dixon's three-pointer to win the Hofstra semi-final drew the loudest cheers as did Jay Colley's voice-over calling the play. "This place is going bonkers" is classic.

Coach Shaver had very laudatory comments about the team and called it
"the team that will have NIT and CAA Regular Season Championship banners hung up next season."

It was also nice to see about ten players from past teams attend...

Players were enthusiastic and took photos with many of the attendees.

It was a gala event and some of us can remember when the annual gathering was so small it was held in the Person Room!
