Round out the class with Devin Mitchell and Quadree Smith or a 5th year/juco big man who can contribute, and I would be ecstatic.

I agree. I'd be really happy with Kouassi also.

Sounds like some one in his camp leaked all those names in hopes that one of them would actually jump forward and offer him. If Bama, Wichita, and Houston are his only offers, it would appear he is going to Bama.

I would guess most don't wish to put for the time again to try and sign him.

After spending a ton of time the 1st go around & getting declined they are reluctant to try again.

Good point. I'd be surprised if we did much more than that call from Haase.

Mitchell is another story. He seemed to want to be with us from the start. I think we may get him.

That's what I think too. Haase was probably like if you are really interested, let me know, but I'm not going to try and convince you to come here a second time.

And I agree that Mitchell is a different story. I think a different offense and change of scenery could be really good for him. He might even have regrets about not choosing UAB to begin with now.

Unless a big man is extremely talented (and if he is, he probably is looking at bigger schools), he is probably looking at UAB and realize he is not going to be getting much playing time behind Lee and Mehinti.

We will probably be the biggest team in the conference next year. I doubt we see a team that looks like UCLA more than twice next year. I'm really high on Sulivan's potential, and someone brainwashed Madison to think he is 6-9, so I think we don't necessarily need another big. It would be a bonus. That's why I thought we should go after a project big, but that isn't Haase's philosophy. I won't be disappointed if we don't sign a big.

I don't think that's true. UTEP has a 6'8" and 6'10" guy coming in. ODU has a 6'8", 7', and 7'3" guy coming in. Even unt has a 6'11" guy coming in. Obviously we don't know how any of these will pan out yet, but there are other teams in the conference with size.

I didn't say which conference we would be in.

UTEP will probably be the biggest team in conference again this year. I knew the Miners were losing a lot of size with Washburn, Hunter, and Lang. I didn't realize they had two big guys coming in. What seven-footer does ODU have coming in other than Pervier? He's the only one I know. North Texas doesn't have anyone taller than 6'7" on the roster other than the new freshman. One guy doesn't make the team big.

Even with the two new guys, I'm not sure how big UTEP will be, especially when compared to the last few seasons.

ODU does only have the one seven footer coming in. 247 sports has something off with a guy named Sam Harris. He played at UTEP a long time ago, but he's on their commits list. They do have a lot of 6'7" guys on their roster now though. I like their size as much as anybody else's.

I can't really see him opting for Alabama over Kentucky, though. Guess I'll find out shortly.

I don't think Kentucky offered him. It's pretty much a guarantee he is going to UAT.

RE: National signing Period starts Wednesday
Recruiting results are a form of "real time" perception of the way young people see your program. Bama's last few hires could be seen as an attempt to overcome the "football only" culture of Bama.

It also may be a way to see how the current unsettled status of UAB's program is seen by those who we want to come play for the Blazers. This April's signing period is the first since the UA system's leadership killed the UAB football team setting off the months long apprehension about conference affiliation. Perhaps we will know definite facts by June 30, 2015.

I wonder what kind of auto he will be driving to Bama this fall (as compared to what he drives now)?
