If we can sweep all 8 games and have 2-4 run rule games our RPI may stay the same or not drop that much. Marshall is 28-10 and have won the last 10 in a row. Marshall has 13 games left. If we can win 9-10 of those games and have 37-38 wins or even more it would be hard to not give us an at large if we wouldn't win CUSA.

You might get an at-large, but it wouldn't surprise me to see your RPI might take a hit either. 50% of the RPI consists of opponent's winning percentage. Right now for Marshall that is .520974. After you play the next 10 games your OWP will go down, as those opponents currently average a .478306 winning percentage. In addition, if Northern Kentucky's RPI stays the same, you will be penalized a total of .0056 points for playing the two games, regardless if you win them or not.

Your best hope is for South Alabama to go back to the top 25 (which we should) and have WKU go to the top 25 to give you an additional 0.0014 bonus points combined. In that case those extra bonus points can help cushion the blow of getting penalized by playing NKU. Heck, just hope NKU is rained out. Along those same lines you would want UAB, USF, and FAU to remain in the top 50. USF is close to being out of the top 50, which would cost you 0.0007 bonus points. Towson staying in top 75 will help as well.

There is a chance your RPI stays around 40. But it really depends on your opponents (and their opponents) and the other teams around you at this point. USA should get a strong push to end the season, as 9 of our last 10 games are against Top 65 RPI teams.

A few errors here.

1) Herd Zoned: RPI is not affected if you win by mercy rule or by 1 run. A win is a win.

2) Skully: bonuses/penalties are not awarded for conference games. This was a change that Coach Lotief petitioned the NCAA to make a few years back. It was resulting in the power conference teams racking up bonuses by simply playing one another as both teams would be ranked in the top 25/50.

3) Skully: Bonuses/Penalties are only awarded for wins/losses respectively. So Marshall will not get penalized .0056 for playing NKU, but they will get penalized if they lose to them. Marshall's hit will be due to NKU's bad WP and that contribution to their (Marshall's) base RPI.

Ah. I forgot all about #2. #3 makes sense.

The drop Idaho talk is to blame for that.
Just about every time Idaho is mentioned someone feels the need to bring up kicking us out. The distance I can understand it but why every time?

Thee main beat to death topics
Liberty
The Louisiana name thing
Kick out Idaho

A fourth Georgia State attendance

I thought about giving a spring football update
Our sophomore QB gained 15lbs
Our leading returning rusher has lost 15lbs and looks good.
Our leading receiver from 2013 is back and looking good (120 yds vs FSU)
The new defensive coordinator seems to be having a positive effect.

Our QB works out with Tony Romo

Maybe some of that is interesting to opposing fans but three pages of lets kick them out would follow.

Bring more fans over and they might not do that as much if you are rebutting them. I mentioned in a thread the other day that your QB is legit. But didn't he get hurt at the end of last season? Will he be ready to go this year?

I don't hate Idaho but understand the situation.

1) You are a geographic outlier
2) You haven't provided any OOC game wins

You can't fix 1...you can fix 2. The addition of Idaho was not popular with the Belt for a variety of reasons. Mostly geographical in nature.

I'm sure if you were the flagship university of a state somewhere closer, people would be glad to have you.

Geographic concerns are real. You can't do much about that. But OOC wins would help - a lot. Beating Ohio in September would be a great start.

Maybe but if he can play great and then choke in the playoffs (bowl game ) i'll take it.
His dad coaches Romo he got fussed at for wearing Idaho gear on the sideline .
The QB not his dad of course he looked good until a cheap shot gave him a bad concussion last year.

Our defense improved a little and the run game was getting better and then our QB play dropped off.

Idaho is at that point where if five or six things come together we will be good.
Some of those should be expected but all of them would take some luck.
We should be competitive and I wouldn't be shocked if we had a winning season.
Ohio ,UL,ASU and Baylor are all teams having their best run in the history of their program. Idaho is 17-20 vs Boise ST they won the last twelve . So Idaho had a nine game lead at one time.So teams can turn it around and so can Idaho we have won before. Two bowl game wins the last 2009.
